Just had to share I went yesterday to see my dear, sweet friend John Gregory in Dunmore PA. I had such a wonderful time as I always do visiting him. I just like to go up just to spend time and hang out with them and see how he’s doing. I took him a present. They completely restored Hoover citation that I restored myself since he’s always been so kind to me And helping me fix up my vacuum cleaner, cleaners . Just thought I would show a few photos of his beautiful shop and the work that he did on my convertible. His stories are very interesting to hear about the Hoover Company since he grew up with Hoover his whole life.

Thanks for sharing. The Citation looks spectacular, and your friendship with John is awesome! Hooverland is pretty amazing, too. Glad you had such a great time.

Thanks Paul

Thank you Paul for your lovely comment I completely restored that Citation myself and took it completely apart and painted it myself since the original paint was in bad shape. The motor also got a complete service by me using my GENUINE HOOVER grease gun to. John is a doll and could not ask for a better friend.

You're quite welcome, Samuel. I have yet to tackle such an undertaking; congrats to you! And to have used a genuine Hoover grease gun is extra special. John Gregory sure has a great reputation—both personal and professional.

Rebuilding vacs and building up a friend are testaments to your mechanical ability and personal character.

Sam

Thank you for taking time to let us know about your trip to John's. He is the ultimate Hoover guru. What I love most about John is the fact that he's also interested in other brands of cleaners - even though he has sold Hoover his entire life. What a great thing it is to be able to sell vacuums from a brand you love so much yet enjoy the non-Hoover products as well.

I'm retiring very soon - I have quite a bit of Hoover cleaners, parts, and literature amassed from 45 years in the business, to give him.

John Gregory

Are there any other uprights from my collection you are interested in? I also have lots of literature, spec, sheets, owners, manuals, etc. that I have been collecting for the last 45 years. I’m going to send any of it to you that you want. Thank you for being such an awesome person and helping out fellow collectors

I’m going to be sending this beautiful lime green Hoover quick broom to my good friend John Gregory. Thank goodness he is not a Hoover snob, I know how much he also likes Sanitaire. The genuine GE RollEasy bags for a different friend who asked for them. They were just in the picture. Pictures, pictures, I love pictures.

Grateful

It's wonderful to know we have so many Hoover gurus, experts, historians, I have read with pleasure many of John's posts over the years...just brilliant so informative, and then we have the amazing insight from another true Hoover oracle Tom Anderson across this and other sites, such a generous collector so willing to share his knowledge and insight... and we can't forget John Long another Hoover oracle. We're very lucky

Why yes, I am grateful to have John Gregory. The ultimate Hoover guru. He actually sells Hoovers and repairs Hoovers. So glad he actually does something with them. Don’t you just hate it when people stow them away and they never see the light of day again? So happy that John Gregory shares with people and doesn’t hoard. He has been a huge help to me over the years.

Agree, we are very lucky to have so many wonderful experts across so many brands and decades, but not sure I understand or get your point Tom about "people just stowing them away never to see the light of day" as a collector I have over 400 machines mostly Hoover from all over the world Australia, UK, Europe, USA etc many of mine are stored and displayed in a large room in my home and shared online like most collectors I know.

ozhoover

What I meant was that there are well known vacuum collectors who do not 'show' their machines to anyone. It's their choice, of course. I know of one specific collector who buys (and has bought) hundreds of vintage vacuums and does in fact have a 'silo' (he built a six car garage just for the boxes from eBay he's never opened). He's always said "one day".

That's the difference when someone shares. Pictures are wonderful, and they can be done without anyone coming over.
