Hello all,
I have a vintage deep fryer called "Southern Fry". There is an Aunt Jemimia type character holding up a plate of fried chicken. There is a sun behind her that lights up when it's on. Can anyone tell me anything about this. I have searched for any info on this on the internet, buy nothing comes up...

Sounds like a great piece of kitsch, especially for a Southerner like me. It's also terribly politically incorrect by today's very sensitive standards. Still, I'd love to see photos of it. I remember when the Presto Frybaby and larger Frydaddy came out in the '70s. Southern kitsch was popular at the time, so that was probably when yours came out. We had a Frydaddy, but I don't think we used it more than two or three times, and never for chicken. The only fried chicken we ever got came from the Colonel, unless we were at my grandparents' house. And their housekeeper would always fry chicken in a skillet. That was a true art form.
