Vintage Vacuum, Floor Polisher etc collected over the years

Good morning everyone, I have been spending some time out on the vacuumland.org site over the past week and wanted to take a few minutes today to share some more pictures of the various Vintage Vacuum, Floor Polisher etc acquired over the past 30 years.

Binder on the vacuum foot stool holds all of the associated manuals for the collection each in a plastic page pocket for viewing.

I would just like to say thank you to the creator of Vacuumland.org as this has been a really great find to know that there are so many people out there that share like or similar interests.

What a nice array of vacuums!!!!

Everything is very clean and orderly. Although I'm 'only HOOVER"... I DO appreciate your vast 'assortment' of other species. See? I'm not as bad a reported, lol.
I will add, that it is very nice to see a nice selection of very nice Hoovers in very good condition as well.

Nice!, Fairfax also;

The Fairfax power nozzle looks different than a Eureka sourced, which is the only one I've ever seen with a Fairfax.

That is indeed a great collection.

I want to thank you for the kind words about Vacuumland, there are several important people who put it together. But it's actually a spin-off of the Vacuum Cleaner Collector's Club, which was started in January of 83, and that's a story in itself. Sufice it to say that it was originally the club forum before breaking away and becoming it's own group. And it does a wonderful job of continuing what the V.C.C.C. started out to do. Namely, providing information to those who want to learn about the vacuum cleaner, and other related products.

That power nozzle with the Fairfax is a rebranded Hoover Powermatic...hence the name "Faxmatic" on the top.

Good morning John, Mike, Charles, Alex, Hans and Brian, thanks for taking the time to review my post and sharing your positive comments. I can’t take all the credit on display and placement as my partner has been a big influence on that front.

John as for Hoovers I am pleased to say that my current collection has about 4 and looking at a really old one that is in a thrift shop but have not been able to snag it yet.

Charles thanks for sharing your love for polishers and I have to say I have not seen the chrome Electrolux version so I will put this on my list to search for.

Alex thanks for sharing the back ground on the V.C.C.C. and sharing the floor mat with the logo, this is a really great piece to have.

Hans, you are correct on the shelf is the Kingston vacuum and also beside it is an advertisement for this very model, this was a find from a store called Yardigans in London Ontario.

Brian, thanks for the information on the power head from the Fairfax, interesting on this model type as this was just added to my collection within the past year. Was out on Kijiji and found a person who had a manual for the unit for sale. This person was in Toronto and shared this when negotiating picking it up “I remember the day when the door to door salesman sold it to my parents. Very expensive in those days! I must have been only 7-8 years old & have 'fond' memories of my mom using that 'spaceship' every Saturday morning, at 8am! sheesh!”

Mike, I also love the AP100 in the brown hassock as this was the third one that my mom owned and comes with great memories.

In closing a couple of observations I see a lot of us are musical, our Heintzman ebony baby grand piano turned 100 years old this year which had been professionally restored with nickel plated tuning pegs and Steinway strings and is a real treat to have. The connections and conversations we have during the process of collecting sourcing and fixing add to the overall experience.

I've only ever seen one Electrolux polisher like the one shown above, and that is the one! It's not chrome but actually polished aluminum. When I found it, it was very dull and tarnished. I buffed it out on my motorized polishing wheel and was pleasantly surprised at how beautifully it came out.


 


I am pretty sure - based on logical deduction - that it's a very early example of this attachment (or perhaps a prototype).  It =is= the older-style model with the "Patent Pending" designation on the bottom instead of having a patent number. I'm supposing that soon after it came out Electrolux started using the hammertone finish (gray, then dark turquoise, then dark blue).


 


I also have several "international models" from Sweden, the U.K. and Canada. The slight variances in these is fascinating to me! These photos are of the Swedish model. Some years ago a lady in Sweden sent me an email saying she had found my web site and had an old polisher attachment, that she would send it to me if I wanted it. She w0uldn't even accept reimbursement of postage!
