good evening. i have several products from the 70's and 80's Electrolux and Rainbow. i would rather use these than get something that is made today. The latest vacuum added to my collection, which was last month, was the AP100 series. all the attachments, bags, filters, and the manual. Oh and the Handkit. i still wished they made those green scented room fresheners that you put in the air filter. Oh and the case as well! It's quiet but it functions very well. It's a pleasure to use. I also have the Sidekick. I so wish they would make vacuums like the ap 100 200, or even even the E2000 series today. I also like the old sewing machines. i got Singer 401A. That is a lovely machine.

Welcome aboard! With vacuums from the 70's and 80's, I think you'll enjoy our vintage forum. My collection is almost all vintage, with my newest machines being from the 70's and 80's. Although my collection is mostly Royal, Electro-Hygiene, and Hoover, I do have a few Luxes, newest of them being a model G from the 60's. And like you said, I would much rather use these than anything made today!

oh yes thank you for linking that. it talks about the year of manufacture, a picture, and a description. this is something i always wanted to view. Canada had their own Electrolux models and it shows all of them right to the latest design, and i wanted to see what was made, during the years of operation. this information is so neat to have. lovely! it answers some of my questions. my grandmother got the E2000 series (which i have also in my room and works great) and i wondered well did Electrolux make a E2100 machine so on and so forth. so once again thank you.

You're welcome. Yes, Doug's site is well-organized and chock-full of photos and data. I hope one day he will be able to open a museum.

In case you missed it on the homepage, he posted his email address at the end of his intro. He's both friendly and knowledgable, so you may want to reach out to him using it or PMing him here. His username is Collector2.

I purchased a Model ZB88 from him a while ago that is one of my favorites. It's from 1967, and it still looks wonderful and runs like a top.

Btw, did you know that you can determine Electrolux CA cleaners' production year by the first digit of the serial number (and knowing the decade or general time frame)?

Do you have an E-Special or E-2000? I have only ever seen the former on Doug's site, so they likely sold in smaller quantities than the deluxe.

Low end machines by door to door companies always tend to do poorly.
That may be true in some markets, but not in the US—at least with Electrolux Corporation and Aerus LLC. Examples are the Electrolux budget non-automatic models E, L, 1453, and 1623 (with various model names) and the Aerus Lux Classic (originally the Canadian E-Special) that regularly appear in online sales and/or photos/videos.

Good day! Thanks for telling me about how to determine the production year of the Electrolux CA cleaner's, i will check that out on my cleaners. I have the E-2000 model. Complete with the E-2000 power nozzle and the attachments. My grandmother got that in the early 80's and i have it now, and it runs lovely.
