My sister recently gave me a 4C in white like this. She bought it about 1964 when she was first married. She did not use it for last 10 years and had it in her garage on a shelf. While stored there a mouse chewed the insulation off the cord so I needed to replace it.I found out when I tried to buy a factory replacement that there are no parts available for this mixer from Kitchen - aid or any othe places that repair them other than a stainless steel bowl replacement for the glass one if it broke. So what I did was I went to a old time hardware store that I am still lucky to have near me that is still in business and found a MADE IN AMERICA old stock Belden wire company replacement cord originally for some other appliance. It was gray like original and had a nice molded plug on the end with a ground prong which the original did not have. So I bought it and disassembled the mixer to install it. There is a lot of parts in it and you had better pay close attention how it comes apart if you ever take one apart because there is no help if you do not remember how it goes back together. I had to disassemble it to the point of removing the motor armature and finally the field winding to get to the conections directly so I would not have splices in wires. I also cleaned out the originall grease which was over forty years old and re-lubed it with TRI - FLOW food grade sythetic grease #TF22021 kinda pricy at $21.00 for a 14 oz. tube but I used about half the tube on mixer and I will have half for another project. The mixer was in excellent original condition but over forty years old. Just like anything else that old if you are going to use it dailey you have to service it completely. It is a very well built mixer but not as big as a modern day Kitchen - Aid mixer and as thoroughly as I went over it I would expect it to last another forty years in service. It only has the one beater tool attachment that mixes/ whip's the food but it is kind of a combo tool and it works fine. The front attachment drive will accept all Kitchen - Aid attachments. I put some money and time researching what to do and getting correct parts and grease and time doing the actuall work on mixer. I have in it more than mixer is worth but I made a gift of it to my daughter who loves to cook and always makes a point to tell me when she uses it and how cool it looks. And my sister who gets a kick out of her forty plus year old mixer still in use and me I got the satisfaction of making it all happen. This was a long winded post. But now you all know about this mixer. If you decide to buy one and the cord is good all you really have to do is replace the grease but I would only spend about $50.00 tops for one of these and they sell on Ebay all the time for that or less. Also glass bowls and attachments can be bought on Ebay if you need them but it still is a well built mixer and worth the effort. Regards Bill
