There's a Kenmore Elite bowl lift mixer on eBay for cheap ($25). Seller says it shows an error of E1 and a flashing light, won't run. Anyone one if it's possible to fix these? I did some reading and sounds like it might be the potentiometer control that's bad. I don't guess that's something that is a universal switch?

Sears apparently never offered parts from these, but from what I can tell the Kenmore Elite mixers are rebadged AEG or Electrolux machines. The tilt-head ones from those brands look identical. The bowl lift apparently is made by them too, but only seems to go under the Kenmore version.

I don't know, as much as I like the look of the Kenmores and how they offer an LED bowl light and a timer, I'm thinking a real KitchenAid bowl lift or tilt head mixer is the better bet.

But who am I kidding, I rarely use my Mixmaster, don't really need a heavy duty machine. lol

Knowing how dirty mixers get, how little people maintain appliances, and anything involving trip sensors, I would blast the sucker with an air compressor all over, and hit the tripswitch with some deoxit and see what happens.

You've got a $190-$250 mixer at a price of $25, go for it.
