My Uncle called me last month and said he found "an old Hoover" and wanted to know if I wanted it. He sent it over with his sister, my Aunt, when the San Diego cousins came over for my Dad's surprise birthday party.

He described the vacuum as rectangle shaped and the tools went inside it. I was expecting a Portable. But here is what was brought! A Kenmore Horizon!! It needs a new cord and the hose appears to have been replaced but it was in overall good condition. A keeper for sure!

Marty,

Now I see why you chose the family that you have! How wonderful. Tell me, the rear 1/4 of that machine looks as if it's silver or chrome. Is it? Great looking machine. Thanks for sharing!

Double wow on the Kenmore. It looks like the Hoover is in really good shape too.The bag may hve been a replacment? If so it was a good choice.

Hooray for Vintage vacuums!

Holy Cow, that Kenmore is purty. Gee whizz, two handles, one for carrying quickly and the other for...um...carrying up the stairs...and so thoughtful that readily accessible tool bin so the tools don't spill out whatever the orientation.
Thank the Collection Gawds that 40s/50/s and 60s manufacturers were not compelled to simply copy their competition but truly set their design departments to try something innovative.

Great Kenmore

Lucky you Marty, enjoy. I remember stopping my parents on a
friday night trip to pay the Sears Bill ! They would leave
me with the Vacuum sales man. Then me asking him twenty questions about each model. Then my parents would be back
in no time !! That series, I had 2/3 printed hand outs,
I would get them out at home and compare them with what was
current in the Sears Catalog. That had to be mid to late 50's

Fantastic Marty, I have the 57 and 58 version...I believe yours is a 60,my all time favorites...I think the Kenmores of that era were untouchable.
