Help Support VacuumLand:

It's a Eureka Model 10. Late 1920's. Oil Bearings (don't run it before you lubricate the bearings). $59 original price. If you bought during the spring cleaning promotion, the attachment set was free. That model was also known as the "Standard", as the model it replaced, the model 9, continued to be made but was called the "special" when it ran alongside the deluxe model 10. The 10 was the first Eureka with an adjustable height to the back wheels.

This is my model 10 Standard. It was a gift from Stan Kann, the grandfather of the vacuum collecting hobby.

Eureka model 10

Thanks for the information! I'm assuming you have to disassemble the cleaner to oil the bearings? I can tell you that the cord is rotted so bad that it was scary to plug in, and there were lots of sparks coming from the brushes when I turned it on.

Here is my early Eureka.

This was the model before yours. Ironiclly it came from your part of the world..lol. Also ironically, this year it was moved back into the kind of home it was pretty much designed for. Mine has been restored, and bares a replica cloth cord. The machine next to it btw is a Hoover model 102 from 1920, that again was relocated to its natural habitat.
