They come up on San Antonio Craigslist ALL THE TIME. I've always seen them in red too, but the blue ones seem to be just as popular. At least they are in SA....

Hi there,
I am pretty sure that the red Rug Doctor machines are rental units and blue Rug Doctor machines are for purchasing yourself. I remember it by Red for Rent, Blue to Buy. I thought it was pretty weird when I first saw the blue ones too, because I thought red was Rug Doctors trademark color.

Wow, I should have looked at your picture first. I have never seen a blue canister style Rug Doctor before. We only had red ones in my hometown. Maybe these blue ones were available for you to purchase yourself, like the blue ones are today. It's pretty neat though.

Canister style Rug Doctor

I haven't seen these machines anywhere along the RGV (Rio Grande Valley) area in TX yet. But the Vibra Vac sure give more oomph than the dept. store steam vacs!

Red vs. Blue

The RED RD's are RENTAL units only; & the BLUE RD's are CONSUMER-OWNED & PROFESSIONAL USE units. However, I see many RED Rug Doctor machines on eBay; that's a violation of Rug Doctor's & eBay's policies, who knows if they're stolen units? I even had someone come 2 my door selling a RED Rug Doctor machine which I assumed it was stolen, so I contacted Rug Doctor's Customer Svc but the "scammer" didn't give me the serial # of the unit.
