Very unusual Singer C10

Singer C-10

The C-10 on EBay(mine)is the only one I have seen.Of all the 60s vacs that tried to store many or all atts this has to be the most unusual.(The Hoover portable was the most practical with the round Eureka a possible 2nd.)It is ,as stated & pictured, missing the bumper and cover over the rewound hose. With a vac this rare you have to ask yourself-What if I find the last one in the world next month and it has the bumper and cover but needs something that is here. The missing cord and motor are probably standard items shared with Silver Glide and later standard Golden Glide.I think it would have had a removable tool rack at rear and telescopic wand.It you have the more common Silver Glide measure it and compare with the C-10. There seems to be no ads and very little if any literature. The small black knob at right moves a panel with grooves and holes to switch from suction to blower without moving hose. The function of the small left knob is unknown to me.--As above does anyone know more??

Those attachments must have been made by Eureka - they are almost identical to Eurekas on the underside.

I don't see where the cord retracts....strange!

I do remember these from when I was a teenager in the 1970's. So cool to see a retractable hose! Singer's response to (or cooperative venture with) Eureka's Crown Princess!

Thanks for the info Jimmy. It is quite an interesting machine. I would say it was their answer to the Hoover Portable (Suitcase style) machines. Singer did also have one that was the same as the Eureka Crown Princess.

I would say you were definitely right about the removable tool rack for it as you can see an area on the back of the machine that hasn't yellowed as much as the rest. The rack probably covered that.

Hey All!! Does anyone have the Singer version of the Eureka Crown Princess? i'd love to see some pics of one. I have the Eureka Crown Princess and the Wizard version of the same cleaner, but have never seen the Singer version. Thanks, Toby G.

Hey Toby

Wish I did have one. I know about it because my aunt had one but my cousin threw it out :( .

Would love to see one again too if anyone has one. I've wondered what the model number was for a long time.

Singers

Attachments-They do seem to be made by Eureka as they had been for at least 10 years previous.Singer must have wanted a new look.In the 60s Singer was still a premium up to date retailer with stores in good locations, design work from H Dreyfus, state of the art sewing machines and a full line of vacs including Porch & Patio shop type styles. The uprights still had many feature from the R Loewy models with groovy, far out bags! And when it was time for a still slim and youthful Elvis to make a comeback special who do you think sponsored it?
Cord-The cord rewinds into the recess between and slightly above the rear wheels.I think with a window shade action.
Singer Crown Princess?-Would this have been Canada only?

Actually to my knowledge Singer didn't name that model but it was the same as the Eureka Crown Princess shown below except it had a white hose and white parts. They were sold both in the US and Canada

Thanks for the info guys!

Another neat feature: the motor exhausts into the hose storage chamber - pretty smart way to make it diffuse without blowing right onto a dirty floor!
