I have been in question if these were even in existence for some years now, after seeing a package of Montgomery Wards Type Z bags, that not only boast that they fit the Eureka Ultra Series, but also gave 4 Montgomery Wards model numbers too. I had asked several well versed collectors over the years, that may have also been old enough to see such a thing new in store, but to no avail. Until now........
Facebook market place certainly can be a compliment to things like Craigslist. It seems to clean up the ends of what one might be missing, this is one of those cases. I saw a listing for a used vacuum sale, and this machine was part of it. It being a Eureka Ultra, I was intrigued as it was, then I saw that I didn't have the Eureka name on the front of the bag like they usually do. Then I noticed the Wards letter style. I couldn't believe it. Turns out it was being sold by a local Mom and Pop thrift store I frequent, they know me there so making certain arrangements was not difficult....and here it is.
It is in good basic condition, just needed cleaned. Nothing was broken or damaged. After clean up it is as good as new! I am very pleased! I also have the matching purple Powerteam canister to match, I was the FIRST powerteam I ever got, and now it has a mate. They are both dated 1986. So they are the last of the Wards branded machines before Montgomery Wards started offering name brand products.
