Very rare and unusual Electrolux Polisher on eBay

This is a very rare chrome-plated Model B7 electric polisher. It was an "Achievement Award for Outstanding Sales Accomplishment" awarded to one A. J. Darnall in the late 1950s.

in addition to the chrome finish, the motor housing is actually a little different from the "regular" B7 (which was done up in white and gray to match the Model F) -- if you look at the center area where the "ELECTROLUX" lettering appears, that area is cut out much more deeply. Compare it to the photo of the B7 below. This means that a special casting was made just for this special award machine.

I've seen one of these before on eBay and wonder if this is the same one as I'v never seen another. I'd love to have gotten it, but....... sniff-sniff

If anyone here won it, I'd surely love to see good, clear close-up photos of it when it arrives.

What a nice looking polisher. Chrome styling always appeals to me.

Thanks. It's one of the points of pride of my collection and obviously something I won't give up. I believe I have a complete set including all the original literature, boxes, accessories, optional equipment; and the matching B7 polisher which in itself is also complete with literature and accessories.

Too bad that, at the moment, it's all packed in boxes and I've no idea where to display it now. I'll just have to bide my time.

Yes, I've been all over your website; that was what first turned me on to the American models. I still check it regularly when I need a good, old fashioned Electrolux "hit". I like your attention to detail and how your personality comes through in your writing.

If I had one hope in vacuum collecting, besides acquiring individual machines, it would be to create a complete ensemble for one of the models, preferably a Canadian one with all those strange and wonderful optional attachments.

I agree with you about Canadian machines. Some years ago, an incredibly complete ZB-88 was on eBay -- the machine was in minty-mint condition, still had a hang-tag on the handle; came with all the original attachments and a beautiful "very 1950s" storage hassock. I put a bid on it but not a very aggressive one, and was very shocked to see that I had not won it. This was before many people were looking for old vacuums on eBay.

I saved the photos from the auction and still drool over them from time to time.

Hands down, that has to be the nicest hassock in the history of humankind. I really think the 88, too, is the best-looking Canadian Electrolux, at least of the painted metal variety. I've had dreams of opening up that hassock and discovering a complete 88 ensemble inside.

Actually, I do have everything in that picture, except of course the hassock, the handle tag, and the bottle of wax (?). Someday, over the rainbow, etc etc.
