In addition to vacuums, I collect old washing machines as well as a few refrigerators. While researching an old Dexter washer on Oldewash.com, I saw pictures of the washing machine museum's vacuum collection...many old pump vacs that I never knew existed as well as a few electric models. Looks like an old Electro-Hygiene against the wall ?? and a handheld that I can't identify on the shelf above it.
Anyway, If your interested, go to Oldewash.com and see the "other items" carrot..
near the bottom are pics of the museum's vacuums.....also, probably 700+ old washing machines that were restored by Lee Maxwell, the curator.
I think he's in his 80s......really hope someone takes over the museum !

Unfortunately most have been painted over. It is a Health Mor, with a Kenmore Jr. hand vac above it. I personally love the cylindrical push Regina on the floor, I just wish it wasn't repainted.

painted

I know....most of the washing machines have been restored/repainted also.
I'm more of a purist....I only paint any collectible if it is so far gone
that it doesn't really matter...
None of my vacuums/washers have been repainted ....washers may be "enhanced" a little

I'm the same way. The only things I have "enhanced" were a vintage box fan that had already been painted many years ago(grey to yellow, ugh) and I touched up the logo on my Kirby 514 bag with grey and red sharpies as it was almost gone. It worked very very well.

“Real museum curators are hard to find”??? Please explain...

I’m sure many of us would love to know exactly what constitutes a “real museum curator”.
Last time I checked, it had more to do with desire, interest and proclivity to learn and stay informed about the artifacts in question. I’d be rather skeptical of a “university trained” curator. What do you get for that training? A CEU certificate?? LOL.

I’d be more leery of “university trained” curators than of those who possess real world hands-on experience: especially the type who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty while restoring a machine.....
(No, I mentioned nothing about gloves. No, YOU were NOT just bashed.)

In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m very good at reading between the lines. I’m sure we’ll continue to have much to discuss as long as you continue your NOT so thinly veiled taunt. I have no horse in this race, so it means nothing to me personally to point out your passive aggressive jabs. I am a proud Tom loyalist, (Tom G. if you still have any doubts.) It seems that you’re the one perpetuating this continued saga. I’ll stop as soon as you’re ready to stop.....
