VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

We just arrived at hotel for early check in. Shaylee worked all night and I was up all night trying to get it all done. My mom has been a huge help with getting things done, you will all get to meet Mommy and she just may be making dessert for Friday. We are going to take a nap for a while as we are dead tired.
The last 2 weeks have been hugely stressful with my contractor not showing up, then when he did show up just left piles of junk everywhere. He didn't come at all this week even though he was supposed to finish the area where we will eat. So last second change of plans and we will now eat in another room lol also I couldn't get all the vacuums unpack from storage until he was done with electric. I finally gave up this week and got them unpacked. They are not polished or serviced and you will have to check for a bag before playing with anything but hey its all good. Finally my father in law late last night got part of the electrical done so we will have light and air in the mini meet room. Thank God I can relax.

Well, finally am able to post!!!!

It's been a whirlwind! SOOOOO much fun, so many activities.
It's now over. Most people are on their way home now. My flight doesn't leave until 6:00 p.m.
A lot of us arrived Wed p.m. The hotel is fantastic!
Thursday morning, a few of us went to B.M.X. Gary's. A lot of us have bought things from him in the past. We got to go to his place. However, one sad, actually 'pathetic' incident occured. BEFORE we got there, someone who discovered we were going to visit Gary contacted him, telling HIM not to let US in his place. A few unpleasant things were said. However, Gary and his wife were, first, dumbfounded, then laughed. AND, then, he welcomed us all in to search everywhere for treasures. And, we did. IF we had more time, and better lighting, we'd have found more. We all left with fun things. A great time, indeed. It only got better after that. We had our board meeting at Kenny Loveland 's home. I made home made cupcakes and gallons of "Pittston Hospital Iced Tea".
Then, the next day, we were off to Phillip's and Shaylee's place. So rural, so much potential, so much construction. We enjoyed a great lunch, saw SO many machines, etc.
Then, on to Houston's and Scott's beautiful home. Again, a great meal, a beautiful pool, we even were entertained with showtunes on a pump organ. (I'm sure it was never intended for that!) Miss Tania even resembled Miss Esther Williams,in the beautiful in ground pool... competing with Sean Curry .. ( who replicates a mean Million Dollar Mermaid). Next day, amidst, meetings, contests, vacccum fun, flea markets, etc, onto kenny's beautiful 1960's period home. Again, we enjoyed tacos, tortilllas, dips, salsa, iced tea, cupcakes ,etc.
Saturday also saw meetings, excellent discussions, elections, a banquet, (yes, it was a banquet), great contests, including a super fab trivia contest, also, an interesting Kirby clinic, executed by (Dr. Kirby, himself), the one and only Bill Edstrom, with the help of a loyal assistant..... followed by a nice bowl of celebratory Cheetos. (More on that later).
Ken Wagman was awarded the annual Ruth Hollander award for outstanding service to The V.C.C.C., the original vacuum cleaner collectors' club. As you can see, nothing could douse the spirits of attendees of The V.C.C.C.
More details soon.
To put it mildly, a GREAT time was had by all!

Well, back on topic.

We met some marvelous new people. The cleaning AND trivia contests were legendary. Sean is a real "Wink Martindale" kind of host.
This is a beautiful area. We even crossed state borders this time. Some people see the world by joining The Peace Corps. We're doing it by joining The V.C.C.C.

It was an amazing time. I'm so glad to be part of the ORIGINAL club and conventions with all the wonderfull inexpensive hotels, fabulous banquets, meetings, competitions, award ceremonies, great fun and fellowship. I look forward to doing this every year for the rest of my life. You are all my brothers and sister and I love you all. Thank you VCCC for being a big part of my life.

Convention was a great Success!

Shane, Thanks for coming with us on Thursday. The convention was very successful! Many people told me it's the best convention that they have attended in three years! I found a couple of new finds! I purchased a bicentennial convertible from Ken Hendrick. Thanks again, Ken and it was nice meeting you! I also purchased a U4123 from Shane.

Kenny asked me to make more iced tea

before I left for the airport. I made 3 batches of it for the party. Either people really liked it, OR, they were VERY thirsty.
I hope you enjoy it, Kenny.

Looking forward to lots more photos.
It was a fast-paced, yet stress-free convention, for the most part.
The election results will be posted soon, too, I hope.
Today, back to reality.
Actually, today, our department at the college had it's final 'meeting' for the year. It was a picnic on the picnic grounds of the college. Early this a.m., I went to the store to get some fruit. I ,made a fresh fruit salad.
I spied, in the corner, a Hoover Convertible. Our secretary, Kim, found it at a church flea market, thought of me, and brought it. How kind, she is!
