Vax V-020U Opinions Please

I'm thinking of buying a reconditioned Vax V-020U from eBay for £69.99 in the near future for shampooing the carpets. Would anybody here recommend it ?

Never used one of them Jamie - but I do have the upright version - the V-026 Vax Rapide Delux, and have had no problems with it aside from a split foam filter which was cheaply replaced. The only real expense with the shampooers is the shampoo itself, but you would be amazed at the colour of the water that it pulls out of the carpets - even though you use the Ranger every week, it will still turn the water brown - I get through about 10 litres of diluted solution doing my downstairs carpets.

If that is the orange cannister save your money for rhubarb! Seriously, the upright versions are much better as they have revolving brushes and (at least on mine) it is possible to rinse out the shampoo residue. There are plenty on ebay, just bide your time for one at a good price.

You are right about the cost of that shampoo - I got a "flavoured" version (spring flowers or something like that) at Robert Dyas a few months ago - it was £5.99 for the same size bottle that costs £9.99

Given your mania for all things <span style="font-size: xx-large;">Hoover</span>, have a look around for their version. I am not talking about the old shampoo/polisher but their carpet shampooer - as I remember it was better rated by Which than the Vax - I had already bought mine (Vax) when I saw the report.

I got a case of 6 bottles of AAA solution from B&Q when they were on clearance, and havent used all that yet, but shop around for good deals on the solution, as some places can offer it on special offer but others will pull your pants down!
My V-026 has the revolving brush on the front, but be aware that some of the other cheaper ones dont have it, so make sure that it does before bidding.
Always allow plenty of ventilation in the rooms for several hours after shampooing and try to avoid letting your pussy on the carpet till it dries lol

I use 1001 carpet shampoo - it is the best and the cheapest as well as pound shops also stocking different scented versions. Dosage should be a quarter cap to avoid over foaming.

Hoover versus Vax

The Hoover Aquamaster of the time out-performed the the Vax. Better suction, better cleaning. And it wasn't orange either.

i have the vax agility

i use my vax agility quite a lot with my 6 cats and the dog there is sometimes the odd accident it has the spin scrub brush and collapsable handle and the caddy with the tools with a hand powered spin scrub brush i have to say for a tti built machine its the best ive ever owned had it nearlt 4 years and its been used to the extreme i only use rug doctor shampoo as i find its the best especially for big puddle of blood on a cream carpet

One of my friends has a Vax Agility and swears by it for her two Westies. I have a Bissell and its okay but I would consider looking at Vax next with a view to getting a machine that has a hose as my Bissell only sports a brush roll compared to static brushes.

I have a Bissell Proheat with single revolving brush and I think that the performance is rather mediocre to say the least. Tanks are rather small, suction is poor and actually cleaning is not that good.

I personally wouldn't touch Bissell again.

Apparently the Vax Dual-V machines are quite effective. I think "Which?" tested them. My sister-in-law says that hers works fine.
