Vax carpet washer

I bought an orange bol one from Robert days for £50 a few years ago. I hate it, nowhere near as good as the bissel power wash I had before.

My mum uses it though, and gets on well with it. She is easily pleased though

Thank goodness someone finally used the term "carpet washer"!!!

I have been saying for years that the terms "steam cleaner" and "deep cleaner" are misleading. Most carpet washers do not produce steam, and most standard revolving brush upright vacuum cleaners are deep carpet cleaners too. The difference is simply in the use of water to wash the carpet.

Manufacturers would be more truthful if they used the term "carpet washer" for these products....just my humble opinion.....

I Remember when you used your neighbour's Vax 121 or 2100 or sumthing on your carpets and were impressed :D

Infact, I can comment with an up to date opinion on these machines now, as I had to use it last night!

Daughter was very sick 5 times on the loungue carpet (missus took her to hospital in the end), so I called my mum to bring it over, as I didn't know where all the bits to George were.

It was useless. Ended up having to stand there for 10 minutes to get enough solution out to do anything, then stand on the damn thing to get enough suction to get anything out of the carpets. The carpet is still soaked, the underside of the vax is covered in bits of puke and I need to get George to do a proper job and dry the carpet out tomorrow!

May take it apart a bit and see if I can work out why it's so crap, but crap it is! I would say a 121 would have been 100% better in the circumstances! If I had a vac I was about to scrap it would have done a better job using it and just binning it!

Sorry, rant over!

Do these machines work well in your opinion as ~I might get as we only have a few carpeted areas with no need for a hose but do they leave the carpet dry enough for it to be dry in a few hours?

Is this the one that is branded as Royal (Dirt Devil Platinum) here in the USA? Our version has two brush rollers & wash/rinse selector & brush & vacuum switches; not sure about this one?

Sadly I don't have a carpet upright washer that has a hose - my old 4 year Bissell Power Wash was purchased at a time when it had been reduced in price and had been replaced by a model which came with a hose.

However upon allowing a friend of mine to stay whilst her flat was being refurbished, her cat came to stay who was promptly sick a couple of times, I had bought Bissell's Little Green Machine as it has a hose and is pretty portable and quite easy to use. Perfect for accidents like this though at times the machine can leak on the carpet from the base and the suction hose has a rather silly half permanent concave set into the handle that only allows half of the water, dirt and solution to pass through it. I'd like to remove that so that its a completely hollow tube and thus have more quicker suction for other jobs like sucking out excess water from the bottom of my dishwasher.
