variety for your cleaning

What do you do when you have many vacuums...and you like to use them all? Rotate your use of each one so that none are left out! haha Here, I have one on each level of the house....that way, I get to use more of my collection...throughout the year! Eureka Mighty Mite, Royal 801, and Filter Queen70th Anniversary. I"m mostly an upright vac fan, but I appreciate the canisters ( have a Royal, Rainbow, Electrolux, and Filter Queen).

Do many of you on this site do something similar as this... to get to use more of your collection more often?

I have realized that they can’t throw my favorite Vacuums into the coffin with me. So I am going to use them while I am still alive. And if I use them up It makes no difference. How am I going to actually get all the use out of almost 550 vacuum cleaners before I die? I have 29 vacuum cleaners at home and over 500 at work, in the museum.

Yep. I have one vacuum in each bedroom, each left out on display, one for the lounge & hall, the showpeice, and the floor-polisher in the kitchen.
So it doesn't look like a vacuum cleaner factory in any one place, they all get seen, and used in-turn.

It used to be considered good etiquette to hide-away such appliances (normally the cupboard under the stairs) so there was no visible signs of how the magic cleaning happened. But these are too good for that.

Our mum used to get in a panic if we had company coming and we'd left a duster somewhere, or the vacuum out. She said it'll look as though we've just cleaned up for their visit. I'd say "But Mum, we have". Didn't go down well.

Never saw a Mighty Mite One in cool grey like that. Very nice. Complements the silver hose and black tools very well. Very understated and elegant.

I have three i usually use the kirby since it's definitely not going to shit the bed on me but i also give use to the Concept One and the Windtunnel Selfpropelled, the carpet cleaner gets use at least twice a year or whenever it's needed which is often more frequent then twice a year

I have a variety for my usual cleaning as well. A Hoover Concept 2 Electronic manages the den, a Royal 888 in the living room, a Hoover 700 for the Dining Room, another Concept for all upstairs. A Royal 501 hand vac does the stairs, couches, etc. My Airway 88 handles all the bare floors, or sometimes I use the Delco.

I do this as well! I have a Eureka Superbroom for the hard floors and throw rugs, a Royal Prince for the cat tree and stairs, and, since I keep a percentage of my collection in the dormer upstairs, I usually switch them out alot up there.

There are numerous Hoovers

all over the house. at a moment's notice, I can 'grab and go'. There are Convertibles, Slimlines, Constellations, etc at the ready.

I usually rotate between the Compact C9 and my Electrolux Discovery 2 and shopvac , my compact c9 stays upstairs while my upright and shop vac stay in the basement .Depending on the job il rotate between the 3 . More often than not ill carry my C9 to the room that needs cleaning and use that .

Since there are about 90 machines here, I used to grab whatever was near. Most of the time it was an airway either my 77 or 88, the rainbow which used to get used for deep cleanings, or whichever upright was on hand.

NOW... Since Greg Palmer installed an MD air master A650 in my house I have been using it non stop. It is in a convenient location and I have tools always at the ready weather it be the non electric hose with the turbo cat or an electric PN with the electric hose. Hmm I may have to purge some more machines from the herd soon to reduce clutter!

Yes...

I have a vacuum for every day of the week. All but my Kirby Dual Sanitronic 50 are tucked away. The DS50 stands proudly in my foyer, all nice and shiny. It's a conversation piece. Every visitor we've had showed varying levels of interest in it. Some were shocked to know that a vacuum manufactured in 1965 is still running and in top notch condition. I was thinking about rotating vacuums to display in my foyer but the DS50 is the oldest in my collection so far. If I find an older machine, that may change.

Anyway, this is a breakdown of how my collection gets used, since I vacuum daily:

Monday, I tend to use my Royal 884
Tuesday, I use my JCPenney-branded Hoover Convertible
Wednesday, I use my Kirby Avalir
Thursday, I use my Sanitaire SC886
Friday, I use my Hoover Convertible U4008
Saturday, I use my Kirby Heritage II Legend
Sunday, I use my Kirby Dual Sanitronic 50

If my wife vacuums, she uses her Dyson Animal 2 as she thinks that my machines are anachronistic being that they're all "old fashioned" (direct air and using bags) though she contends that they do a good job and are built well ("too well" in her words).

I have vacuums on display in every room of the house except the bathroom. It's grab and go anywhere you are! I tend to favor my Miele upright when I'm in a hurry because it can go between hard floor and carpet with the flick of a switch and auto height adjusts. But, I enjoy using my Miele Capricorn, Filter Queen, Sebo X4, Sanitaire S661, Hoover Portapower, and of course, any one of my many MANY Kirbys, all retrofitted to HEPA bags. LOVE seeing them on display and LOVE using them all.

Of course, there are some I reach

for more than others. One time, i realized that I had used so many different ones for so long, I started checking bags. I ended up changing about 5 different bags! Imagine what that would have looked like in the trash.
