I want to tell all of you here I have got two vacuums from Brandon (animebsd). They are a 1989 Kirby Legend II and a 1993 Royal 6103 Preferred, which I got from him in exchange for my two Eureka canisters.
The Legend II, he also gave to me because he thought of the bearings being bad, but, I have discovered the whole safety switch mechanism was missing when I removed the rug nozzle (reason, only the mounting holes for it were there). Maybe that could be the reason this Kirby is so noisy. But if the whole safety switch mechanism is missing, the vacuum would not even run. If I had the $$$ I could take it down to Stark's or another Kirby dealer for repair, although it is not essential.
