I think having some sort of way of knowing if someone is online would be interesting, like a green icon or the word "Online" next to someone's name at the top of a post in a thread. Then if you had a question or something you could just email or message them, but I don't like the thought of a chat bar thing with a list of online members and an instant messaging system.

Many of us are too busy in the 'real world' to attend to requests for instant responses 'Online'..... Even on a site as wonderful as this one....
