I've acquired a few vacuums lately. I have not posted about them as I'm readying about 10 vacuums to sell on eBay.
My phone has been factory reset 3 times on the past month. If I have pics I will post at the end of the post.
I got the eureka cord away. It's in descent shape. It does have bearing noise and possibly needs new carbon brushes.
I got 2 vacuums/1 sweeper for free. The first is a 1950's kenmore sweeper. It's a kenmore touch o matic. It weighs about 25 lbs. If I were to guess it was used in movie theaters. I also got a ge model 69 from 1927-1928. They both were from the same person. He had them listed for $20 I messaged him about them. I got a text on a Friday saying I could have them for free if I came and picked them up. I've wanted a ge/kenmore/premier vac for some time.
The ge is in pretty good shape. The bag has patten dates. The last was 1927. I was informed it was their last straight suction machine. It's bag has an impressive seal. I vacuumed it out though the top bag opening. The bag can come off but I want to make sure when I do so I don't tear the bag. It runs quietly and it picks up really well.
The last free vacuum I'm not sure of the model number. It is a sanitaire wide path 7 amp. It's red with a red commercial bag and it takes f&g bags. He said it needed new strips for the brush roll and a belt. The brush roll is half worn. I do have a belt for it. I have not done anything with it yet.

Great selection of vacuums! That Kenmore sweeper is cool, and shocking it clocks in at 25 lb. That's about as much as a Kirby!

Those GE Vacuums are nice too, I think I have a slightly newer model than yours.

Thanks

Yours is probably newer. It's the last straight suction model.
I have a ge handvac with same bag design as my ge. I have a royal handvac made around the same time my straight suction royal is. I just don't have a bag for it.
The kenmore feels like it's real wood. It's a nice retro look.
Husky what Model GE do you have.
Les

Nice Les,

That is real wood on that sweeper right or veneer? I'll bet the extra weight helps it pick up lint and what not even better. Good for you.

I think it is the AV-1, I don't have a photo handy at the moment. Rescued it from a Vacuumland member a couple years ago who was selling cast-aside projects. It needs a new fan according to him, but I haven't cracked it open yet to take a look at it to see exactly what's wrong, if it's just a bent blade or a worn bushing or something else. Really good shape otherwise though for how old it is.

Thanks

Bill for the kind comments. I showed my mother in law who is almost 77. She remembers them and I used it and the brush needs adjusted. It picks up really well.
Husky if your vacuum is straight suction yours is older. If not there pretty similar.
Ben, I think your right I'll check it later today.
Les

Thanks

Everyone for great compliments.
I have a question about the model 69. It does not have an agitator brush like my old royal does. It looks like it might at one point had one. I was wondering if it indeed had a agitator brush behind the straight suction nozzle.
Thanks

GE #69

I had a GE #69 and an AV-1. when you say "agitator" do you mean brush strip or revolving brush? and agitator is a revolving belt driven brush. mine didn't have a brush either but I think I have seen them in illustrated ads. maybe the brush was extra? I sure miss mine and my AV-1. I still have some of the parts.

Idk

Its on straight suction machines. It goes on the back side of pickup nozzle. Its about the full length of the nozzle.
My royal was a thin piece of wood and had bristles on the bottom near the nozzle.
Like this in the picture attached.
