In D2D sales
getting the trade in out of the house significantly lowers the cancellation rate. Since D2D sales are subject to the three day recision, removing the "old" cleaner that "didn't work" eliminates the likelihood of the buyer going back to their "old" cleaner and cancelling the purchase. It also helps to justify any price reduction to the buyer. When I worked for a D2D company, we used to trade in all sorts of crazy stuff, and I still have some of it today. Cars, boats, lawnmowers, vacuums, art, guns, season game tickets, crafts, atvs, and labor are just some of the things we would get folks to trade in. It was very unlikely for a buyer to cancel the sale if they traded something significant in. The tradein game can be a lot of fun for the salesman and the buyer too.
