Vacuum store displays in the UK

Hi all and merry Christmas. I've seen loads of threads on vl of American store displays of vacuums, so I thought of showing our American cousins what we have over here.
This is my store I work at, Currys Megastore York, and my whole department of sda, specialising in floorcare, as you'll see, I run a good ship.

Isle 1, AEG vacuums such as the Powerlite, precision, Ergorapido, ultracaptic, ultraone and ultraperformer and the dreaded Aptica.
There's also Shark, B&D, Bissell and Vax steam mops. There's also handheld steamers and vacs, vacuum bags, Polti steamers and Lecoaspira, Kaercher steam sledges and pressure washers. Vax and Bissell carpet shampooers are also down here too

Seeing this reminds me.

I bought a white Karcher window vacuum cleaner for £49.99 in Currys only last week. It was for a Christmas gift. I assume Currys are dispensing with this model perhaps, seeing how one gets practically everything possible to go with this cleaner, and at £10 less than the regular version too.

Another close up. I haven't mentioned it before, but I'm a huge fan of Dyson, have been since I was young.

It's a clean display, all the cordless are charged, I cannot abide things that don't work. I also have tubes for the cylinders underneath. In the till podium I have a tangle free tool, can of dysolv, string, flour, dust from my home and hair from my cousin's lovely cat. All in the name of demonstrating!

No vintagerepairer, but I explain to them that they have a central filter and get clogged often, leading to them needing to be washed frequently, and replacing.
9 times out of 10 they will upgrade. The other 1 are ignorant and buy it anyway. But in York anyway we tend to sell more of my favourite brands anyway: Miele and Dyson

Ah, well, upgrading the sale is no bad thing. But labeling those who choose not to do so as "ignorant" is a strange choice of words to use, at least to me it is, as every penny they spend goes towards keeping your store open. There will always be people who cannot afford to spend more than they have to, even if it is a false economy long term.

This looks similar to our Best Buys, but your store is huge! It seems Dyson has standardized their displays; even at most American department stores they use black backgrounds. You sound like like a fantastic manager keeping all the cordless machines charged. They could really use you at Sears!

I'm not a manager, I'm just given quite a bit of responsibility! I've been with them a good few years. I've always believed if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing right

It is a big store, although there are bigger

You have a ENITRE ISLE of those, "Things"!?

They're more popular there than I could ever imagine! In the states all that is displayed is about 2 uprights and a Canister model or 2! (Dyson that is). Hoover favors the isle, along with El Cheapo Bissells and the what-not.

Super Sweeper; The company who Adam works for is now the only major electrical chain store left. Twenty years ago there must have been at least six major national retailers, and all but Currys have gone.

There are a number of very small chains, some independent stores, and a good deal of stores which sell a range of appliances amongst the tens of thousands of other lines which they sell. But this is the only electrical-only store which has managed to survive in vast numbers. Stores like the one photographed here are usually on large retail parks and many attract shoppers on a "day out". This in itself means a good deal of those who have made the effort to go to the store are unlikely to want to leave empty handed. Having such a range of appliances for people to physically see is jolly useful and makes getting that sale all the easier.

Is that the AEG version of the precision I see in the first photo ? I did not know they were going to sell that outside of the USA.

Its not on there website yet either.

Out of interest I went to Electrolux.co.uk's website and not a vacuum in site. Even here in SA all the top models are AEG's now

Adam, I did some contract work in store 2282 - the currys PC world megastore at Teesside park a few years back.... Now that's a MASSIVE store!

They had a DC07 origin and a dc25 all floors to vacuum the entire store! I've never seen two dysons with so many miles on the clock in my life LOL
