Hi everyone,
As I'm sure most of you agree, there's nothing better than a freshly vacuumed rug. I was wondering which vacuums you felt leave the BEST looking lines in your carpets and rugs? Wasn't ever impressed with my Miele Twist's lines. Ironically enough, the Wessel-Werk/Vacuflo Edge nozzle leaves great ones. The Shark rotator definitely grooms the rug but leaves the carpet looking like it was raked. Our new cleaning woman came last week and used her Hoover Elite commercial upright vacuum and my partner couldn't believe how great the rugs looked afterwards. Looks like I may be buying a Hoover before they're all gone! Wanted your input as well ;)

Dyson DC25 got stiff bristles. It is an amazing vac in general. And so is the non clutched DC07 and 14

My Oreck XL2 leaves really nice lines in the carpet. My Dyson appears to leave nice lines because of the way the edge brushes rub against the carpet but the carpet isn't very well groomed in between them.

I love the grooming of my Hoover PowerMax canister which uses the same brush roll as a Hoover Elite style upright. I've always been impressed with how a Hoover grooms.

I've been unimpressive with grooming of a Kirby.

Thanks everyone! It's interesting you mentioned the Oreck. I had an Oreck XL 40th anniversary vac years ago and don't remember it being that great. I was intrigued by the Oreck Axis upright on QVC but have read it's not good for frieze carpet..it stalls. I'm torn between that Oreck and the Hoover Elite commercial. Thoughts?

I think...

...that any Kirby with the regular nozzle or Miracle Head does an excellent job. Hoover Convertibles are also good, but I can't speak for Oreck or Dyson since I've never used one.

Oh, Orecks don't deep clean. They just clean the surface. They have high speed brush rolls that are very soft, which is why they leave good carpet lines. But they have very small fans in them so they don't have enough suction to pull out the dirt that is deep in the carpet.

Any hoover powerdrive upright(concept,powermax/drive) imo produces good lines. Kenmore canisters with 3+ rows of bristles/beaters look quite nice also. Funny story; my mom has insisted for the last 11 years Bissell bagless machines are good. She was intrigued about my lux discovery when I was telling her about it. I bring it over and the first thing she says when she used it is "oooh look at those lines!"

I use my TriStar EXL with "double-helix" or green HPO brush roller & it produces nice lines

Next is a Aerus/Electrolux PN1 or L-shaped PN with "double-helix" or green HPO brush roller
