I guess people in your part of the country must never throw

I've seen things in your free pile that I haven't seen anywhere in Texas for at least 15 years. Tell me about that Hamilton Beach rug tool. I see that yellow plastic piece on the underside. Does that function like the Vibra-Beat on a Eureka rug tool?

Those are wheels on the bottom of the Hamilton Beach rug tool which make it push with no effort even on thick rugs. It seems everything comes to the middle of the country. My good friend Mike Banta lives in California and says he never sees any vintage cleaners out there. Stan Kann always said St. Louis was where all old vacs eventually end up...

Watching Alex's...

1962 Mobile Maid GE dishwasher with bow tie impeller. We all got splashed but that this is a real workhorse.

What's Daniel Anderson taking home??

That's EASY to figure out! Knowing Dan, & how much he likes Aerus Electrolux & Kenmore products, I bet it's gonna be one of those 2 Kenmore 5033 canisters right behind him in this pic. Or maybe perhaps the 5055 canister from the 1990's beside the green GE canister.

Unless there's an Electrolux hidden in this pic, or that isn't shown, then all bets are off, LOL.

Rob

Daniel Anderson bought a motorcycle while he was here (apparently, the prices of such things in St. James, Missouri is thousands less than in Utah). I'll let him tell you what vacs he got - there were so many people taking cleaners home with them, I don't remember which ones went with which convention attendee.

WOW!

Looks like everyone had a great time! Wish I could have been there, maybe next time. Bet I probably would have found some parts, attachments, etc. I need in the free pile too! Sounds like it was just the way a convention should be--minimum expense, maximum fun!
Jeff

We were hoping to be able to get together with you Jeff. One day, very soon. You're right about minimum expense, maximum fun. We figured that there's no need for a luxury hotel room, when all you'll do is sleep in it. No need for a banquet when we have such a collection of great cooks in the club. With the Museum at our beck and call, no need for a meeting room that costs money. It was a great time - especially the visits to Evan's vac shop and to Bill Kirby's beautiful home. I can hardly believe we had all those vacs running in his living room at one time. We picked restaurants that could accommodate us all, and none cost more than a few dollars for delicious meals. The highlight (for me anyway) was Alex opening his home and sharing with us. Never meant to get sprayed by the GE dishwasher, but that's kind of what you get when you run it with the lid open (to see the 'action').

What's that in the previous pic??

Is that Tacony's new bagless you were talking about?

Hopefully you'll be doing the convention there every year from now on if the museum will let you. Seems like a natural fit. I'm hoping to swing by sometime this year since my work is now taking me into the mid states.

We are holding the convention every year in June at the Museum. Ever since I went to the first Vacuum Convention, 20 years ago, I've tried to always either attend or hold a Convention each June. Now that the Vacuum Cleaner Museum is a reality - we have made it a permanent meeting place. With over 608 vacuums to play with, people can 'travel light' and just bring the unusual or extremely rare machine - saving room to take home 'treasures' that are always available.

Bob is indeed using one of the bagless Prototypes in the photo, but we have redesigned the entire thing, so now that machine is in the 'vaults', along with all the other prototypes.

convention and museum

Hello mr Tom

Looks like excellent museum

Hope to join one of your mtgs someday

Btw you look like actor gerard butler ever been told that

Best regards and

Blessed be!

@vacwarlord: you're the second person to mention that. Again, you don't need a special 'once a year meeting' to visit the Museum. It's open all year long, six days per week. I actually enjoy meeting with fellow collectors 'one on one'. Ken and Mark stopped by yesterday on their way home from the VCCC meeting. I had so much more time to spend with them, then I ever had a chance to spend with any one of the 30 people who came to my Convention this past weekend. So feel free to come by any time.

@Hans: Yes, I'll never forget Miss Beverly Whispertone. That was 1995, I believe. I almost died laughing at her. Tania was horrified. And Clay read me to filth over the Thermax. Yep, I remember everything like it was yesterday. You drove up in a vintage car and Jason Davis cried when his Kirby fan got jammed during the cleaning contest. Good times (lol).
