less than a month away, so excited

Only a few weeks away now, can't wait. While traveling to collectors' houses was nice last year, I think I'm looking forward to the grand tour this year even more, even though I've seen lots of the vacuums, there's too much to take in all in one day. I think my favorite rooms are the 1950's since that decade brought us lots of awesome canisters, and the 1970's when there were lots of new power nozzle ccannisters. I'm sure the 1960's room has lots of canisters too but the 1950's seems to really be the decade when the canisters were popular.

You're right. The 50's were the 'canister' decade. My goal this year is to take each machine in the Museum off the shelf, talk about it, and let everyone use each one. I sure hope people film it on their phones for posterity. All the vacuums fit into the puzzle, and I would love each person attending the convention to leave knowing the history of the vacuum cleaner.

Stan Kann's collection is a sight to behold. As are the unique machines from the late Mike Hay's collection. The "zapper" Lewyts (both models) are all together in one place, as is the non 'zapper' model. The gorgeous Apex Strato-Cleaner is a one of a kind machine. So much to take in.

Besides, where will the assembled collectors ever get to see ALL the water-vacuums with separators displayed at the same time? Ever seen a Delphin, Ritello, or Quantum? What about a RoboClean or Big Power? For someone who loves water vacuums, this year will be the BEST.
 
I am really looking forward to this. It will be my first time at the museum as well as my first time attending a convention. I’m bringing my partner along and we hope to attend all the events. Can’t wait to meet fellow collectors and revel in everything at the museum.
 
Donald has About convinced me to come,

I dread the drive,, but I have done it several times before, the first time in, 1996 I drove a 34 year old 62 Plymouth Fury!!!

With air conditioning...please! We want you comfortable and safe from heat stress! It really sounds like this year has the makings of an “old home week” style reunion of collectors. Can’t wait to see the pics!
 
Han's It would be great to get a chance to see you again. It's been since 2006 or 07 since we met and I never forgot what a kind person you are as well as Donald. That was my first convention in St. Louis.

Shaylee, Maverick, and I will be coming up on Friday night too see everyone and have a few laughs, then I am flying out on Sunday to Portland Or. to see many vacuum friends over in that part of the country.
 
Hans and the Convention

Spoke to Hans last night on the phone, and I believe we'll see him for this convention. I'm MOST SURE he will bring a car full of treasures for everyone. He's like the candyman in that way (LOL).

Can't wait to see everyone. Stan Kann's vacuums are virtually all on display. Will be so nice to share Stan stories with everyone.

Rolla, Missouri has an award winning Pie Shop (A Slice of Pie), and I plan on buying a few so the convention folks can enjoy of piece of delicious pie along with their coffee after dinner on Friday evening.

It will be wonderful to see you again.

Thursday is the day people arrive. We are having the swap meet, at my home, on Thursday evening, after dinner. I would like all the vacuums that people are bringing to show off, sell, or give away to be brought to my home as opposed to the Museum.

As you know, Rolla, Missouri is a college town with lots of places to eat (but sadly for some people, no White Castles). There's a very famous Rolla restaurant (The Tater Patch) that's been open 50 years, has an awesome and very fast kitchen and delicious food that won't break the budget. We'll probably eat there, before heading to my home for a slice of pie and the swap meet on Thursday evening.

anyone bringing any canisters?

If anyone is bringing any canister machines to sell, I would be interested, I love canisters, you all can have the uprights, I brought back 3 machines my first convention and 4 machines my second one, we'll see what this year reveals. I also plan on bringing several water vac machines.

Hey Todd:

So happy you're joining us again this year. We're probably not going to visit the Waffle House, as I'd love for people who are coming to be able to eat at restaurants they don't have 'at home'. I'm planning on asking Hans to cook WITH me for breakfast on Sunday morning for those who are still here. His buttermilk biscuits are to die for. I prefer home cooking, especially Southern home cooking - to any restaurant there is.

No I don't. They don't sell it in MO. I used to have my friend Logan Hall, send me Virginia's Best flour, but haven't in a while.

I think it will be fantastic to have a nice, big home made breakfast for all the vacuum collectors on Sunday Morning before they head off to their homes. And we can serve it all in vintage electric skillets like the Toastmaster I got from you a few months ago.

Can't wait to see everyone in a week.
 
I will bring some flour,

I cant make biscuits without a good soft winter wheat flour.
 
The Tater Patch looks great! Anyone try the “rowdy cricket”?

We are leaving on Thursday morning and hope to get there by early afternoon. We’re staying at the Hampton Inn. My partner travels for work and gets discounts at Hilton properties. Hopefully it’s not too far from everyone.

I hadn’t thought about bringing any vacuums along. I’m trying to think of any I have that would be of interest. I have a couple of clear vacuums that I assume were some sort of promotional items or displays for vacuum centers. One has a separate switch for just the headlight which sort of makes it a “lamp” if you will. Beyond that, I wouldn’t know where to begin.

Can’t wait for Thursday to get here!
 
Tom, Looking forward to finally meeting you and everyone else that will be attending! I have read so many posts and it will be great to put a name with a face! I plan on arriving early afternoon. Over the moon excited!

packing my vacuums tonight

Going to pack the hoses and power nozzles for the water vacs I am bringing tonight. Since the Hyla and Roboclean use the same power nozzle, the Wessel Werk EBK340, I'm going to take a slight shortcut. I'm going to bring an adapter to convert the Hyla hose end from 35 MM to 32 MM and we can just use the Roboclean's wand and nozzle with the Hyla since the plug will also fit. That's one less wand and nozzle to carry. Actually the Quantum uses the same power nozzle as well but the plug is the United States mini plug instead of the European one. The only machine I am bringing that uses a different power nozzle is the Ritello which uses the Wessel Werk EBK360. I think Tom has the other water vacs, I think we will have all of them this year, at least the separator ones which are the only ones worth having. The Vivenso is another awesome machine and Tom has that one. The Vivenso and Hyla have very unique separators. The Ritello and Roboclean have cord winders, that's something Rexair should add to the Rainbow, and the Quantum has a detachable cord, will have to remember to bring that.
Hans, are you bringing any canisters or just uprights?
So excited, can't wait for later this week.

I'm the opposite

I'm actually the opposite, I enjoy pairing up machines with other power nozzles, the Sebo ET2 on an Electrolux 1205, the Centec CT10 on my Riccar Prima, or how about the Riccar power nozzle with the Sirena, lots of possibilities.
The nozzles for the Hyla and Roboclean are identical other than the neck size, so to carry them both is redundant. I'm actually bringing another version of this nozzle for the Quantum. It would al be interesting to pair these water vacs with the Volt.

Thank you again for bringing your Water Filtration vacuums with you. The Ritello is going to be AWESOME. I've never seen one before. The Quantum is on facebook almost every day, so I'm very excited to see one.

We'll demonstrate them to the Vacuum Cleaner Collectors Group on Saturday evening, at the reception at my home.

The late Clay Floyd had saved all the newsletters (which were beautiful, color magazines four times a year) from when the old VCCC was still in existence. It will be fun to share them so everyone can see what the VCCC used to look like and all the wonderful people who used to belong to it.

love the Quantum

I think the Quantum is awesome, I also like the Ritello although, at least by touch, it doesn't feel like it's made as well as some of the other machines, but we'll see what everyone thinks.
I actually think the Quantum does a better job of getting the dirt down in to the water than the rainbow, it holds more water and creates more of a storm effect than the Rainbow. Tom, you should pull out your Vivenso too, I'm sure everyone would love to see how its unique separator throws the water around.
I am actually going to bring one other thing, the Rug Rat turbo brush. It will be interesting to attach that to the vacuums in the museum and see how fast they can spin it. There is one machine in particular I really want to try this with, the Sunbeam Dual Deluxe. I always feel like a kid at Christmas with this convention.

I remember that picture well!!

That was 1996, when I drove my 62 Plymouth Fury from Lenoir out there, You and I had just finished emptying all sorts of vacuum bags onto your living room carpet for our cleaning contest!!LOL
