Vacuum Cleaner Collectors Club

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Yes we are!

Yes we are still active. Our annual convention will be in Kansas City this year. More details are on our website.

We no longer have ties to VacuumLand. Since it was split several years ago. We are using our own site to communicate information about our annual convention.

Oh okay, I looked at the VCCC web site and remembered why I hadn't ever joined the "new" club. Since all that you get for your dues is entrance to the annual meeting, there was (and is) no point in my joining since I can never attend the meetings (unless they're in Southern California) due to my work schedule. If there were other 'perks' such as newsletters (as there used to be), that might make it more worthwhile to join.

Back when

I first joined the VCCC in 1994, we were a small group who became great friends and ran up enormous phone bills in those pre internet days, We have lost many of the early members, Clay Floyd, Mike Rogers, Craig Long ..but many of us old timers are still good friends today, many of us left the club for various reasons mostly because of the lack of a informative educational newsletter and because the conventions became more and more expensive, most of us are not very wealthy businessmen who think it beneath themselves to stay in moderately priced hotels,we used to stay in very moderately priced hotels, eat at moderately priced restaurants, we had no alcohol , etc..when all that changed,,we left. I still consider people like Billy Lippman, Roger Proehl, Tom Gasko, Charles Lester, the best of friends.

Ditto for me---Don't go to the conventions-these should be held in other places on a rotating basis-and don't want to go to big cites-have the meetings in SMALLER towns-more pleasant-less expensive and more junk places to look for vacuums. And no more newsletters. The infor that was sent by mail to you was worth the price-had great information -so miss it!Maybe if the VCCC made some changes-you may get former members back.If you have to fly to get to a meeting-makes it difficult to bring vacuums with you and bring them and others back.

I dont fly

And since my eye problems I really don't like to drive on interstates, especially in rain at night.i didn't used to think anything of driving to Chicago or Milwaulkee etc but 53 is sure different than 30!

Well, now that you've mentioned it.....................

plans are being made (as we speak) of generating a new, nice, clear, concise newsletter.
There are also conventions being planned a few years in advance. One of them possibly being held in Scranton, Pennsylvania.......... easily accessible to everyone on the "East Coast" as well.
I "lurked" before joining in 2008, in time to attend "Happy Birthday, HOOVER", in North Canton.
Luckily, I missed most of the drama before that. But, the info is all in print in the minutes from the meetings. Some people have left. Some chose to. Some were made to. Some look back on it fondly, making lifelong friendships. Some live to bash the group, possible, because they are no longer a part of it. NOT getting into any drama here.
The club meets annually, in various locations. Yes, memories are shared, new ones made. Friendships are rekindled, some new ones formed. As far as hotels, in this day and age, the competitive market is a challenge. Barb Mac Millan did a fine job booking, organizing, along w/ others.
So, if/when it comes to NE Pennsylvania................... it'll be easy. And, Scranton is THREE MILES FROM THE AIRPORT!!
But, like us . or don't. But, there really is no need to bash. Unless you love to do that sort of thing.

For example:

there are several people I've heard of for years. Some, I'd look forward to meeting. Some HAVE met me, IN PERSON, and were "amazed" at "how different I actually was FROM WHAT THEY HAD HEARD". I've been called everything under the sun. But, I'd open my door to you, invite you to share a meal, share vacuums. Then, IF you bashed me, mocked me, you'd never see my door again.
See how it works? Kinda like the old Hoover ad: "Try before you buy". Well, See before you bash. You might be amazed.
