Vac Parts Storage?

It seems any time I go to Goodwill or Restore I end up finding all kinds of vacuum bags and belts and I always pick them up, and now I've got so much of it I am having a heck of a time figuring out how to go about storing them all.

I have them in carry around tote bins but it's not so easy to access when I want to get to them. I want to put them in roll-around drawer carts but it seems like before I get through 1/2 a tote the cart is full.

I really want to have them be in the house but not take up so much room in the house (hence the drawer towers). I don't want to use the garage as I don't want mice getting into them or the heat and cold ruining the belts so I can't have something so huge as I don't have a designated area to keep them.

Maybe I just need a cart with bigger drawers or something?

what about putting up peg boards and hooks on a wall. if you keep the belts in plastic bags they should hold up for a long time. Even a wall in your basement? I hate digging through piles in drawers so I've gone to peg hooking a lot of stuff like they do in stores. I've used a paper hole puncher to put a hole in a "baggie" and then hang bags of belts or various parts from rods.

Wow, y'all are far more organized than I am. I just have stuff crammed on shelves in my laundry room Small parts are in boxes, one for Electrolux, one for Kirby and one for Eureka/Sanitaire, Larger parts are stored loose on the shelves and some are stored down in my barn. All this probably explains why I've been unable to put my hands on the spare brush roll I have for my Kirby Heritage machines.

Oh yeah pegboards are a great idea but I don't have any spare walls tho.

I do actually have a small (maybe 3ft) wide section of spare wall on the inside wall of my cold room but I am not sure how much cramped it would make the space if I put pegs and hooks on it (or being an eye hazard for that matter if you turned the corner and hit it).

I do have a couple spare pegboard panels that are framed in chrome trim and peg hooks that I got from when my local hardware store closed that I have not found a place for yet.


I might consider that if that idea will work, I'll have to do some measuring and figuring out.


It would make a good sense though because that room is not insulated or conditioned, so it keeps everything cold, dark, and dry. The belts would be happy (assuming they are any good to begin with from previous owners) lol
