I love the photo of the vac of the day, the Hoover Citation. I think I asked this before, but I have forgotten. Did that model have a 2 speed motor? If not how much wattage? If it was only a one speed 420 watt, how was tool suction?

The Citation model 64 was a ONE speed motor. Suction was dismal, but better than nothing, with the tools. For carpet cleaning, it was superb. The next model (Convertible 65) had a two speed motor with Automatic Shift upon insertion of the converter.

The Citation has a tool conversion on the side.

Its suction is no "Constellation", but, it did the job for regular 'dusting'. It was the last vacuum with that handle apparatus, the 1st with a vinyl bag, etc. It was also the first vacuum where we'd see the Hoover logo in red on a machine. The "Convertible" was on the way.... paving the way for a huge success for decades to come.

Citation

I thought maybe someone would post a photo of a Citation but that did not happen so I wanted to post a picture of mine.

The Citation is one of my favorite Hoovers. Along with it's sister vacuums, the 63 and 29, they are great machines. The balance of the handle, ease of use, nice long cord, headlight, etc., are just some of things I like about all of them. The air flow on the 29 is incredible.

This particular Citation should have enough mileage for a free ticket: It started at some point in Lincoln, NE, went to Los Angeles, came to me in Charlotte, (and had some additions from another 64), went to St. Charles, IL, then on to Palm Springs, CA and finally back to me in NC! Wow.

I don't think it will leave my possession again, even with the move to Dallas, and then maybe eventually into assisted living if I make it!
