Dear members of Vacuumland,

after being a silent follower for years I have finally grabbed myself a heart and signed up.

I've recently bought a Floor Pro 1522 and had it shipped all the way over to Germany. The only dry foam shampoos available here are the ones made by Kirby. After having done extensive research in this forum as well as the internet, I figured out that the dilution ratio should be the same with both the Aerus/Elux Turbo Shampoo and the Kirby Shampoo: 2oz per 1 pint of water. Is that correct?

Well, I've tried this ratio today on a small carpet and I was not too impressed with the foam. It seemed to be too wet/liquid. As many of you did point out to have achieved good results by using Kirby shampoo with an Electrolux shampooer, what advice do you have in store for me?

Thanks a lot in advance for your kind help - happy vacuuming.

BTW, as there are many lads around with extensive knowledge on European brands such as Miele or SEBO, I might help you with information on Vorwerk machines, as they have been my center of interest for the past 30 years. As I am not too fond of their current lineup, I have opened up to other brands, espeically Shark and Aerus/Elux.

If it didn't seem like there was much foam then try adding just a bit more shampoo to the dilution. You shouldn't have an issue using Kirby shampoo in the Floor Pro.

I love the look of Vorwerk machines, I wish they were still sold here in the states.

Welcome to the site!! :)

Thank you very much! I'll try adding just a bit more of solution then.

BTW, Vorwerk has gone downhill imho. Their machines do look fancy, but although they do provide a huge range of helpful tools, their deep cleaning ability is next to nowhere and you will soon experience problems quality wise. In addition, they are clearly aiming at younger folks who like fancy, shiny stuff and know nothing about housekeeping or practicability.

I do love the older machines made until the nineties. I'm still using a 1976 model with a spraygun in my garden and their dry cleaning system, which is great for quick carpet maintenance.

After a massive loss of market share in the vacuum businss, the Thermomix branch (heating food processor) is now their biggest branch. In Germany, Thermomix has become some sort of pop culture - you might also call it a cult. I love mine, although the longterm quality of the machine is also questionable, especially in relation to the hefty price tag (1,200 EUR).

So, what do you do when you feel put off by your favourite brand? Look for a new one - thus I'm very much into Electrolux (USA) and Shark now. Great machines - so expect some more questions soon:-)

That's disappointing that they've gone downhill, I noticed they now sell machines online too rather than just doing in home demonstrations. I've questioned their deep cleaning ability after seeing how small the brush roll on the EB400 nozzle is.

My favorite brand just happens to be US Electrolux/Aerus! I only worry a bit about their future, many of their retail stores have closed and the name Aerus just doesn't relate to people. Lots of people recognize the name Electrolux, but it's rare that someone recognizes the name Aerus. Many of their dealers still refer to themselves as Electrolux because they know that's the name people relate to and they know they get more sales when people realize their mother or grandmother used an Electrolux. After over a decade of having the name Aerus, there should be a much higher level of brand recognition from a company that once was as great as Electrolux US was.

Shark makes pretty decent machines for the price, they're pretty popular over here in the states.
