so hows it going?

Maybe I can revive this thread.

Did you ever decide to use it?

I am getting a LIKE new 518. All original down to the bag, belt, and brush and cord!

Im just hoping that it will look like this vacuum!

Kirby Bag

Hi Marie if i had that beauty i would leave it alone. Be sure you will lose the value and for sure spoil the looks. a few weeks ago got a 519 looks very nice i would never change the bag. I am sure if you looked around you could get another Kirby that you could change. So please keep it the way it is . Take care Doug

Brandon,

We decided to keep it unused and in the package!

You guys are right on here that great vacuums with minor use can be had cheaply (we're going to show our latest in a second). So it seems a shame to put this one to use. We're still holding onto it and not really sure what to do just yet (got several offers to buy it), but we know we're not going to "un-mint" it any time soon...

Marie

Did any one else notice the new 519 has the incorrect cord on it? The plug on that cord didn't come until the 1990's.

i would use it once i na while

I cant keep a vacuum just sitting there for to long i have to take it out put it together and use it. All my vacuums get a run every few months, of course my compact electra c9 is my daily driver and works wonders .My newly acquired electrolux model zb 86 was fully rebuilt and is now near mint i cant help but use it and vacuum whit it just to nice but that is just my opinion . i do put all my vacuums in the same room temperature is control and check often not to cold not to hot not to humid hose are put away properly ect .

While it was not New-In-Box, my new Heritage II Legend has seen about 10 or so uses since 1988, and GENTLE uses, too!

I noticed the cord as well. What a beautifull machine.

My grandmothers first Kirby was a model 519. And how I loved that machine. Oh how I would like a new in the box unused 519 to remember her by. I do have one for restoration and hope to be able to do that some time soon.

I am jealous of you! That Kirby 519 is a time traveler for sure! Did I hear you say that you had the original cord? Because my 519 does and I do leave it in place but for safety reasons another Kirby cord is plugged in where the switch plug in is just for using purposes and the old cord is strictly "for show". I would run the motor from time to time to keep everything alive. It is so pristine! Thanks for sharing it with us!
