I love the Blue HP and the Supermacy, something about that burgandy with the black handle makes it very attractive. The ble one was a Sears exclusive most likely, and the Supermacy IIRC was (aroud here) exclusive to Ann&Hope or Apex, and the grey I remeber seeing at True Value near my house. I think a PA minni meet is in order, with pics to fallow!! =)
Happy Hoovering everyone

I am getting the Dust Cup Version

I actually am getting the Dust Cup Version of that Wards by Hoover. I believe it is model U8855. I won it off ebay today.

Here are a few of mine along with a

real Perivale" one. I used to be friends with a guy who wanted a blue one. I got him one for his birthday in June. A while later, I asked him where it was. He had SOLD it.
I'll admit, I MUST have a few in my collection, but, it is my LEAST favorite design.

What a fab photo of the four of them. Thank you for posting this - I always liked different versions of the Hoover Ranger and saw quite a few different ones when I was growing up - the Montgomery Ward one seemed to be a popular one in our town.

I used to recall to collectors in the UK about the Ranger Senior with the curved handle instead of the more modern version but very few knew what I was talking about - my town in Scotland being home to a U.S Naval Base - and we had tons of American appliances including the big Cadillacs, Pontiacs and even those bizarre AMC Gremlin cars floating about.

Always used to think the Ranger's with the badges on the left hand side were American, just like the cars' Left hand drive. I soon discovered at 14 years old that Hoover was an American company and not just built in Scotland, UK....

Blue hoover deluxe

My parents had this exact one when I was a kid! I love this vacuum I was heartbroken when I found out they threw it out. I'd love to find one like this or similar to it.

It's.....

The American way, Anthony!

It isn't just vacuums though Anthony, I find that our cars from the 60s and 70s were very boring compared to the Cadillacs et al that were made in America during those decades.

I don't know what is going on with the UK ranger in that photograph, but it appears to have the middle handle bolt facing forwards, which relates to the much older design of handle and cable holder. The "correct", or should I say more popular design for the ranger can be seen in the very first photograph. The newer cable holder required the middle bolt to be inserted from the side.

I never noticed that Benny. Very interesting indeed. What year was your UK Ranger made John? Perhaps it was an early model whereby they used a different handle before switching to the side facing bolt.
