Upholstery Cleaning with RugDoctor Mighty Pro

I decided it was time to give my RugDoctor Mighty Pro a good workout by cleaning my couch. The couch was bought brand new 4 years ago when we built the house so it was definately time to give it a deep cleaning.

I will post 2 pictures - an older photo that shows the couch when I did my Sentria unboxing, and then what came out of it.

It looks like light chocolate milk - I know a lot of it was body oil and probably dead skin cells and dander from the dog that vacuuming alone can't remove. Also where your head always rests, that tends to get a buildup of oil as well. I hate those arm covers and covers that go over where your head rests - if my couch came with them, I'd never of used them anyway

Anyway, it took me 2.5 hours to do the couch front and back, and 4 couch pillows. I did not get to the 3 cushions or the chair and ottoman - ran out of cleaning solution and energy! Those will be done probably this weekend.

Couch is almost dry - windows are open and it's breezy today which is why I selected today to do it.

P.S. The Ametek Lamb carbon brushes are sure to be well worn in now

Oh .......cool but disgusting. Can you imagine what most peoples' sofa would look like? Probably more like chocolate syrup instead of choc milk.

I remember buying a chair in a consignment shop once.  It was immaculate....not a spot anywhere, no trace of pet fur.  When I got it home and started vacuuming it with my Rainbow, the water in the pan turned to mud in just a couple minutes.  Many times back when I was selling Kirbys (Classic Omega) I would be demonstrating in a very "clean" home and could go through a dozen or more pads in the dirt meter vacuuming a sofa.  The typical response from the homeowner was something like " I only use a vacuum for carpeting, I just use a lint brush to get the dog hair off the furniture."  I think for a lot of people if it "looks" clean, that's good enough.

Cleaning Solution Sale

I ran into a nice deal at Baker's when I went to get more upholstery cleaner today at lunch. They had the 1 gallon bottles of oxy steam cleaner for $9.99 with a Plus card, regularly $18.99. I bought 2 of them since I hardly ever see them on sale.

Now I have more cleaning to do this weekend, but plan to tackle the couch, cusions and all the rest of the carpet in the house and get it all done.
