I have family coming out on the 4th of July, so I put everything in the back house in storage, and started painting it. This is a rare shot of the counter being cleared. It's coming along well, and was much needed after years of smoking. Also I love this time of year with our roses in bloom in picture 2.

Looks like it was an amazing work and storage area from the beginning, and after seeing the before pictures I can appreciate how much work went into the transformation! And seeing you working on your first restoration project brought to mind my first restoration project, my model 80 Electro-Hygiene. Here are before and after pics.

hello hygiene903 what year would that model be. any idea.
Frank, the model 80 was the first model of Electro-Hygiene, which began as a wholly owned subsidiary of the P.A. Geier Company (later Royal) in March of 1934. The model 80 was produced until about 1938, when they introduced the model 94, which was produced until production stopped for WWII. So, my 80 was built somewhere between 1934 and 1938.

Well my family came out to make my dream come true. I only had one thing on my bucket list and that was to get all of my 6 grandkids together at the same time. So they came out to celebrate the 4th, and my 70th birthday. I'm so glad I updated the back house it really made a difference.

Belated Happy Birthday! That's great that you were able to get all the grand kids together at once. Do they live in close proximity to each other? Growing up I think we only got everybody together maybe twice like you have. Everybody was so spread out! I sure enjoyed seeing all the cousins, aunts and uncles together under one roof. Ours! I'm sure that great memories were made , happy for you! The house and workshop look fantastic. Billy

Belated Happy 70th Birthday Jim! Great family pictures of a wonderful time together, and it looks like your backhouse turned out to be an excellent place to stage the event! So glad you were able to get the whole family together! We used to have gatherings like that, but not so much anymore. If we can get 3 of our 4 kids and their families together at the same time, we consider ourselves lucky. We also had a cookout on the 4th with 2 of our kids, 2 grandkids, and our great-granddaughter, and watched the fireworks from our patio after that. We're just 2 blocks away from the park where they set the fireworks off.
We're just a year apart, I'll be celebrating my 69th on Saturday! Maybe our age proximity has something to do with our similar interests in the variety and ages of the vacuums we collect, and I'm sure we have a lot more in common too!
Jeff
