Update on my 1962 Kirby 562 Sanitronic

I wish I could have salvaged my D50 cord...

...but the motor inlet of the cord was brittle and would not stay plugged into the switch. It was duct-taped to keep it together. Also, the cord had multiple, permanent twists where the material would "knot" (for a lack of a better word). It was a shame as the cord had no nicks or cuts. It does, however, look OK with the ca. 2019 black Kirby cord, which seems to be a bit heavier-duty.

Thanks everyone

It took 4 days to get it where it is now. Next is polishing. That's going to take a while as i will be doing it by hand like all my other Kirbys and Royals. I can't wait till she's done. Even in her current state she's still beautiful to me. I think the only part on it that's not original is the bag. Would anyone have the right bag they would sell? This one has a hole down by the emptor anyway. Also before i forget does anyone have a handle fork for my 508? Mine has the wrong one on it. It's the same one that's on my 562 so it doesn't fit right at all. Also my 508 needs a bumper. The rest of the trim is red and I'd like to stick with red. If anyone has a red bumper that would fit a 500 series they would come off of cheap I'd greatly appreciate it
