Can anyone tell me what this attachment is for? I found it at a thrift store mixed in with its plumbing stuff, but at first glance I thought maybe it was for my 509 or 515 Kirb20250928_150250.jpg20250928_150254.jpg20250928_150305.jpgy, but it doesn't fit those.

You probably could, if you don't mind the smell of paradichlorobenzene crystals and if you can still find them! This version was available with the model 200 and early 350 Filter Queens and connected to the exhaust on top. Later 350s and subsequent models had a different version called the Jet Demother, but if I'm not mistaken the earlier version continued to be offered with Filter Queens in Canada.

They have them down here, but moth balls and moth crystals are entirely different, each having different ingredients and shapes. The active ingredient in moth balls is camphor, and they are of course ball shaped. The active ingredient in moth crystals is paradichlorobenzene that is ground into crystals. The crystals are also more adaptable for use in the various types of demothing attachments that were available with the Filter Queen and other makes of vacuum cleaners.
