Universal Vacuum Cleaner Magnet Strip

For anyone wanting to use their domestic or Walmart vacs in an industrial setting. I found this on Amazon. It looks like you secure it with screws or pop-rivets to attach it.

That's an old school Bojack ad on sale.
Problem with this is rocks and coins tend not to be magnetic therefore it actually yeah there's very little. I can't tell you how many sanitaires I have fixed with broekn fans that had these things on them.

I’ve always hated those damned things. And here are my reasons:
1: Forst and foremost, if you have an environment in which large debris are a concern, you should buy a vacuum capable of ingesting such things without damage. I really am not a fan of direct air vacuums in commercial use, the only exception being the NSS pig, as it has a debris trap in front of the fan.
2: they stick out and prevent you getting up the walls and such. And they’re ugly!
3: and most importantly, they only collect metals with enough iron content to stick to it, all of the non-Ferris debris on the floor won’t be affected, and break the fan anyway! It’s best to just buy the right machine in the first place!!!

I have sold many of these over the years. People love to stick them on the front of their Oreck's as the width is about right.

I don't get it (for many of the reasons mentioned above) but I'll sell it - and even put it on for free - if that's what they want.

Maybe it's a little insurance, or maybe it makes them feel tougher having that big a** heavy bumper thing on the front of their vac ~

Update:
One of these customers came in just after I posted that so I asked him why ...
he says they do help with the staples and paper clips in the office settings. Since he runs an office supply company I’ll take him for his word.

I also kept to myself the fact that this seems more an (training?) issue of people discarding waste materials on the floor rather than the just-out-of-reach bin intended for such items. Raising that issue might cost me the sale of future “$29.99 Special Industrial Magnet Bumper Attachment Assembly with Cover” and free installation

Lets be honest, do staples and paperclips really damage the machine? I've seen many machines clogged with them, but in all the years of vacuuming I've never had it happen to me. I'm known for sucking up anything that fits. I tend to be a little more careful with direct air machines, but I still can't think of a machine that I wouldn't suck up paperclips and staples.

Staples and paper clips usually don't damage direct air machines.Now--if you tried to pick up a floor covered with them-that may be a different story.Sanitaires-the most common commercial upright vacuum eats those without problem.Of course we know the NSS Pig would eat those that escape the "snout" and go thru that HUGE 8" fan!The fan is turned at 10-12,000 RPM by a 1.5hp motor.Bends up any that go thru that fan!

Oh Tolivac, there are only two machines I'd consider using in heavy commercial use, one is a Spencer Turbine type central system, the other is the NSS M-1! My M-1 lives in my bedroom by the door.

At work used a portable spencer vacuum-was almost as good and as much fun to use as the NSS Pig! Would like to have a portable Spencer.That would be the next best thing to a fixed,central Spencer.The Sanitaires are the most common commercial upright-and for what they are do a really good job,rugged,easy to service.Its amazing the abuse the Sanitaires go thru and keep coming back!
