I picked up a Kenmore economy upright vacuum from 1970. I'm sure a picture of it has been shown here as a catalouge picture, it aparently is made by Whirlpool.

Truly, quite an ugly machine, but I could not help myself. So...I've cleaned it up, and ran it for a trail run around the house. Very fast brush action! However, the motor got very hot, and I would guess that the bearings on the motor are dry. I lubed the end caps on the brush roll.

My question is, how do you lubricate the motor? It is a very common looking motor. Looks like the kind that older sewing machines used, I think they are called universal motors.

Any thoughts on motor lubrication?

Guy, I want you to go get a camera, no more putting it off!!! Get thee down to Future Shop or Best Buy or Walmart post haste. It's 2007 LOL

I recently got a 1969 Sears fall / winter catalog and they only show one upright, probably the one you're talking about..I'll try and scan it but the scanning program for my printer seems to be acting up.

I know, I know...

I'm just not tech savy, and unless I can convince a friend to come over and hook it up and show me, I don't have a hope in hell of fiquring it out. I've only recently switched over to touch-tone phones LOL!!
