Need Hose?
If you scroll down in this forum, I posted a picture of my Universal Jet99, for which I need a hose. I just want to be able to use this vacuum in the cellar. Any extra hoses available, or any workarounds?

What a beautiful piece of machinery. I truly love the color. The style of it looks better to my eyes than a TriStar or Compact. I tend to like more square or rectangular shapes. That is one of the no-longer-with-us brands I want to collect. Could be my second favorite brand after Electrolux/Aerus.

It's ironic that the first Jet 99 (like the one Hans shows) had a cloth bag that came to within one inch of the filter - but not resting upon it. That model did in fact clean well and maintained airflow. By the time they brought it out as an Atlas, the cloth bag sat directly on top of the pre-motor filter. There was no way to clean for more than a few moments before the airflow was gone. It's little things like that, which contribute to the overall satisfaction of a customer with a vacuum, as well as contributing to the demise of a once-great Company.
They were just like a GE in one respect..
The first one like I have was much overbuilt, then they cheapened it every year and lowered the price, if you think about it, the first GE canister had a 10 foot hose and lots of attachments when it came out in 1952, "Model 815" by 1955 it had a flip over rug/floor tool,and only a dust brush,crevice tool and upholstery tool,where the grey 815 had a nice cardboard caddy and several extras like a demother,special drapery tool, seperate rug and floor tools, in 1952 it also was 99.95, I know about this one because my Mother bought one new, my Aunt bought a pink GE model c-3 in 1956 and it was 69.95, same basic machine, just cheaper, they did add a dolly, but took off the nice step pedal swith and just had a normal toggle switch, the Jet 99 was much the same, it got cheaper every year.

Surprising to hear that the Atlas was that poor since it is so famous. But of course, I am but a beginner collector. I have much to learn but I'd still like an Atlas purely because it is so beautiful.

I bought a replacement hose and fittings that will work. What I wasn't able to get was the rubber ring that fits inside the endpiece. I could just use a bunch of electrical tape, but let me know if you have any of these rings. Thanks.

I’ve had mine for 30 years. I just rebuilt it today. I always promised I would do it when I was old, and now that I’m older, I have been fixing the machines I’ve been putting off for years. With brand new bearings, this one is sweet running. I have all the attachments. The motor is unique for sure. You can see a lot of influence from compact in the design of the body and from Rexair in the motor. I enjoyed rebuilding this machine very much.

I got a few old advertisements on this vacuum. If it preceded the Atlas I believe it was produced in 1957(I believe).
The atlas were modeled after 1956-1957 Chevy 2 door bel air.
Very nice vacuum. Dysonman your very talented just rebuild a vacuum most people never seen and never seen they could never repair. It shows true expert to just rebuild any vacuum. There are very few people very few who can do this.
