So we are looking at ultrasoft carpet for our family room. Seeing it in store and at a friends hose - I'm sold. But, do any of you have it? What vacuums work with it? I've googled and found some info that a lot of vacs can suction themselves down and be pretty hard to move.

I do have a Miele with a height adjustable power nozzle - so probably good there? But I'd love to hear what you all use! And if you like the carpet too!

Look at the information on the carpet to see which vacuum the carpet manufactures recommend to use on it as with mine I can't use a Kirby. I didn't think it was true but it is. I have ultra-plush (never again) as it has a mind of its own. If there is very low humidity in the house, there are no vacuum lines as with a little humidity the carpet has vacuum lines. I cannot wait until this carpet wears out!!!

You can't use A KIRBY on their carpets?! See if they ever get my business! They probably know what a GREAT vacuum the mighty KIRBY is, and don't want you to use it so you have to buy new carpet sooner! they thought they were sneaky, but they didn't know about ME!

I've had Mohawk Smartstrand installed in my house for over a year now and really like it. When I first got the carpet I was using the Beam Q power nozzle and it was really hard to push on the carpet. I got a new central vacuum kit with the EBK360 power nozzle and it works very well with the carpet. I'm not sure how anyone would be able to use on upright on this carpet. I think the weight would just make it sink into the carpet.

I must have read wrong

I actually thought that Kirby was one of the allowed machines on this carpet because you can adjust the height manually.

Maybe it was a different carpet I was thinking.

In my room, I have snow white Karastan

It's live velvet. It is very kind to the HOOVER. The Convertible leaves gorgeous lines on it.
Joe Kassock brought a Windtunnel II to a meet one time. They gang ran it downstairs on the other carpets. They said, 'Look at all that dirt!". It wasn't dirt at all. It was carpet nap!
Of course, the Convertible has a 4 position height adjustment. The older ones have 2. They all work fine here at this old place. Can't beat them.

Cool - there is hope!

dlb764 -- Is the EBK360 you have the standard one or the softclean one? I believe the standard one is the exact same as my Miele branded SEB-228 powerhead.

The carpet is in

So we got the carpet installed at the end of last week. It is awesome. I could sleep on it. Soft, cushy, nice, etc, etc.

Now, the vacuums:
Miele Titan with the SEB228 (i.e WW EBK360): works great - have to have the height set to 4 out of 5

Kenmore Intuition upright with the inducer motor: totally useless - seals itself down into the carpet and it is completely impossible to move. Height adjustor doesn't seem to make a difference here. Lots of suction on the machine - but seems to hurt here with not suction adjustor or bleeder valve. I do wonder if my height adjustor may be broken though - never felt like it could go high enough for shaggy rugs

Electrolux Ergospace green. Straight suction tool - hard to push but workable. Turbo brush? Pretty much useless. I do have a partially filled bag so it may be better with a fresh one, but nothing surprising here.

Congratulations on

The carpet but the fact that I can only use certain vacuums would make me pass on that type of carpet .
I have frieze' carpet and it is very difficult to use some vacuums and as soon as I get time out it goes and I will make sure I replace it with a carpet that does not restrict which vacuum I use .

And the winner is ...
