I got a sort of ‘holy grail’ for Kirby fans! I’m trading work for a 1933-1934 Model C...possibly a prototype b/c it doesn’t even have the light assembly. My friend who runs a vacuum store and 24 years with the Kirby company, said he’s never seen one before , it works, just needs a polishing ...but , it is missing
The rug plate , front cover ( this was before belt lifters), and a useable bag.

Wondering, if a 505 rug plate would fit this? Anyone with knowledge ? I have photos showing the measurements to assist all who care to weigh in on this. Also, if anyone knows where I can find the proper front cover?

Thoughts????

Hey

I know a brush roll from 505 will fit.  It looks like plate from ,505 will fit.  Texaskirbyguy has same emtor on hids ,505 .  The cord looks right but handle doesn't.  On brush roll the screws hold brush roll are same size.  I also believe it's same motor as 505. Hope this helps a little.

Thx Les

At an old kirby repair shop, I compared a model c there that was restored and it looked the same ( didn't have them side by side mind you), so I thought it was orig. encouraging info concerning the brush roll too

not a prototype

the early model c didnt have a headlight. it was an extra cost option. the 2c was the first one with a headlight. along with the model R.

Hey

Your welcome.

It's no prototype but it is probably one of rarest Kirby's out there.  Vacuette and eeze sanitation system only more rare production.  I know that 3 wheeled mid 30s Kirby a member and bill have is a prototype.  I have a all original 505 that's rare this is another level.   The rarest I have are the royal model 98 and pa geier handvac both late 20s early 30s.  My 505 and the 2 royals altogether times two is guess on value of yours.

Keep us posted sweet vacuum.

thx for the info fellas

Yes, it runs! nicely too! I never heard the headlight was an option. what would be yawls opinion....should it be left to look with that weathered patina or polished up? I saw a polished one and it looks soooo nice.

Hey

Polish slowly. Before taking off screws polish them it helps when taking them out. I'm not sure of all the metals on it. I would tape the badge/serial plate. Pics and keep track of what was taken off for reinstall.
I'm half way through my royal keeping track of everything I have done.
Like I said don't rush and maybe do polish and sanding by hand. I've taken apart shined up put back where it was.
Good luck and make sure you know what metal your working with.
