Hi guys, just vacuumed kitties bed with big fat 16 lbs of long hair Tuxedo sitting in it! The Miele just does not faze him at all, even the powerhead. Guessing the S4 line is even quieter than the S2? Wish I had spent more and gotten better, but this is a very nice machine. Not sure the bag check is ever going to come on, they must really pack it full. My Lux would have already popped open. Any of your machines make kitty run more than some? The Concept 1, just the sight and he is gone for an hour.Ah, the cost of power! Hope you guys are having a great weekend. d.

Scared of...

My cat, Shorty, is scared of EVERYTHING. When I vacuum, which is daily since he has long hair, he hides for hours. It does not matter which vacuum I use, he runs. I don't even have to turn it on. He runs if I THINK about vacuuming.
Don't know why. I don't threaten to vacuum HIM,... not that often, anyway.

Daily? Is that all? Not enough here. Mine is ok with the Miele and pretty cool with the Dyson. That is about it. He is a big chicken. One would think after ten years of a few times a day.......

My Chocolate lab, Java, doesn't mind my coffee can hoovers, or 28/115/63. Also doesn't mind the conquest (so quiet), or any canister I own, but hides when I run a kirby, eureka, sanitaire etc.

She didn't care at all for the fairly quiet muffled DC17 dyson.

But our Dachshund, Eva, runs from ALL vacuums!

Me?

Currently I have a D80 and heritage II. Ive had lots before though. Classic, Omega, 518, tradition, classic III, Heritage I x2, turbo 84, Legend x3, G3, G5, G6, Ultimate G, and Diamond.

Would like one of your D80's

If you don't mind parting one i'd like to have a D80 to add to my personal collection. Email me and we'll talk it over.

Sorry Jayson. I just have One D80, and I have almost $300 in work done to it. Its very dear to me. Couldn't sell it for the world.

Ment to add-

My friend also almost done with building together a complete full attachment and box set of d80 stuff for me, including handy butler/waxer/attachments/shampooer etc.

My big fat cat Nicholas, the king of the house, is suprisingly not scared of the Kirby Diamond and Ultimate G. However he is scared of the hose to the central vac and he does not like the Electrolux Renaissance. He gets very jumpy when the Renaissance comes out to clean, which is suprising as its not as noisy as the Kirbys. I think the hose on the machine is what bothers him. He is a rather curious cat and I usually call him "the inspector" after I vacuum with the Kirby. He usually sits on the top of his perch and looks down while Im vacuuming as though he was supervising what was going on. When Im finished he climbs down and walks around the carpet as though he were inspecting it to see how well it was cleaned :)

They are pretty loud! Mine has new bearings. Kirby vacuums were never really quiet. The heritage series are not bad.

Its louder than hoover convertibles, and eurekas. Not quite as loud as a concept.

With all but one vacuum, my Bassett hound could care less and continue sleeping in her bed. It's when I pull out my 1969 Hoover Covertible and turn it on that she makes a run out the room to hide in the closet. I have no idea why.

Something that won't scare an animal

What's a vacuum an animal won't flip out about? Give me some ideas. Mst are freaked of everyone. It don't matter if it's a Dual Sanitronic 80 or a Concept One if an animal is scared then an animal is sacred.

Quiet vacuums,,,

I think the original Constellation is perhaps the finest example of a whisper quiet vacuum. You can barely hear the motor. More just the woosh of air.

I am trying to recall how loud the Stainless steel constellation was. I recall it had a far greater woosh of air, as that thing could suck paint off a wall. --- Another fantastic vacuum

Miele vacuums are also pretty quiet.

Coffee can hoovers are very quiet too.

My dog!

That I had for nearly 16 years LOVED any vacuum, when I turned it on she would come running so I could vacuum her back!! When a thunderstorm came, she would wag her tail and bark at the lightning!

I have a friend who remembers their cat would keep flopping down on the floor right where her mom was trying to clean. She would have to slip on the dusting brush and vacuum the fur on the cat's belly!

Forgot to mention....

it was a 60's era Kenmore cannister. I remember finding some of the tools in a box when I helped my friend move her parents out of their house.

My cats are

different as night and day. Oreo doesn't mind the vacuum. When I fire up the Dyson, or the Kirby she just sits on top of the sofa back and supervises. Lucy, on the other hand, makes a beeline under the bed, and won't come out until she is sure the vacuum from hell has been put away. She is even scared of my Filter Queen, which is a very quiet machine.

The 2 cats I have now hate the vacuum and run when they see it coming. My previous cat however was the exact opposite. As soon as she heard me getting the vacuum out of the closet she was right there, getting under foot until I put on the dusting brush and vacuumed her.

My cat is petrified of the Kirby handheld but doesnt mind the sentria and just sits on the back of the sofa watching.

She is also petrified of the Eureka Sanitaire and will run out of the room.

Miele Champagne

The only vacuum my friend's cat will run from at first but sneak back in the room is a Miele Champagne. Ittybit (the cat) has kind of adopted me and vice versa. I gave my friend this vacuum to see if Ittybit would not be afraid. I vacuumed Ittybit's cat house while I was there and he came back into the room after initially running out, however my friend prefers his upright which terrifies Ittybit and the other cat.
Thie upright is a Miele S7.....
