Hi all

I wonder if anyone has a schematic of a UK Kirby Classic III?

I've just restored a CIII - and replaced the speed / safety switch. The UK model only has three wires to the switch - one to the commutator (red) and two from the stator (yellow). It would appear both positions give the same speed. I wonder of that is normal on UK models?

Thanks!

I would think so. I won't be of much help to you because I'm from the U.S., where voltage is 120V at 60 cycles.

My limited knowledge says the first Kirby to be sold in the U.K. with the higher 2nd speed was the Heritage 1HD. There is a video of it on YouTube by twocvbloke.

BTW, I wanted to update you to say that your Classic III motors only have the red and white wires going in to the speed switch (the green wire acts as ground) and that explains why the machine in your country runs higher than ours do.
