So I went to the Habitat for Humanity thrift store in town, and stumbled upon this CUTE little machine, for $15.

I almost didn't, but I had never seen one like it.. So I thought "there's always room for one more..."

The neatest thing about it, though... It's BAGLESS!

*AND*

It has a on/off setup very much like that on a model 87 Constellation!

It looks, though like its hose had a not so great run-in with a car. :-(
Any suggestions on a hose that I might be able to use to replace it?
It just screws on to each end, and needs its electrical connections to be soldered.

The turbine nozzle is also kind of neat; when it's on carpet the suction goes to the brushroll cavity. When you flip the switch to "Floor" suction is diverted to the cavity in front of the brushroll. I've never seen a powerhead set up like this!

Upon my initial assessment of it, it looks to be a VERY well thought out machine, and although it looks kind of cheap and flimsy, I find the opposite to be true!

Has anyone ever encountered such a machine?

Dirt cup removed.

Flipped over, the filter has a cleaning mechanism that you move back and forth to knock dirt off...

Push button again, and door opens, dirt falls out!

The poor hose...

Look at the two suction channels ("carpet" and "bare floors"

It even has a muffler!

From sharp minds come Sharp products. It's really nice. I've never seen that one. Any hope on fluffing out the hose?

That really is the bee's knees, Fred. I see a lot of well thought out engineering there for a plastic vacuum.

Dang, that hose looks like it'll barely pass a toenail clipping! I'd try to revive it first using a heavy duty padded woodworking vise. I re-round wire coil crushed hoses this way. Works perfectly for cloth & vinyl weave hoses to get the shape back. For a stretchy flexible one like that (GE, Hoover) I compress the hose sections longitudinally on a broom pole so the coils stay aligned at 90 degrees to each other as you try to re-induce the cylinder shape. With patience even your flattened one may be savable/usable until eventually you find a substitute.

A inline wand muffler!? One wonders if that is really necessary and how effective is it? I mean, we know how a car muffler works by diverting the exhaust through perforated staged chambers but I can't see asking dust chunks & debris to take the same torturous path. LOL

Sharp products.

Sorry,

No long diatribe here. I know "very" little about Sanyo vacuum cleaners.

I would bet dollars to doughnuts that you may find that SANYO still offeres this hose. It loos VERY similar to one that their currently offering thru ESSCO.

Congrat's on the great find. I've found a couple in the last two weeks I'm about to unveil. Keep a look out fom my goodies!
