Hi all, well I picked up this Hoover Constellation 84 #9331980 years ago but it was missing the hose. I have occasionally looked online but it always involved buying a whole machine. Anyway finally I spotted an 82 at an estate sale that had that special nozzle attachment so I thought I would go pick it up

Mouscapades. I kinda had a suspicion as it weighed a ton when I picked it up. #6502212 is pretty far gone.

I did clean it up a bit and of course the motor sounds good so I was able to get some parts.

There is one on Ebay right now that could use that handle.

I was hoping for some advice on how to get a new hose on this attachment. Do I put it in boiling water to get that form fitting rubber/vinyl sleeve off? Can I buy some sort of new one? What hose should I use or should I repurpose one that is vintage? Also, has anyone done a color match to the 82 they would like to share?

Mine is in pretty good shape but I could touch-up a few scratches. Thanks so much for any advice.

Good lord and I thought I had some bad ones to restore, wow wow wow, I think you set the president! Having just taken 3 dead mice out of my garage and 1 nest (so far) I can imagine how that smells.

Boiling water soak for a few minutes intervals at a time and slowly working it off going around in a circle a little bit at a time I think should get it loose. I am not sure if that rubber is heat sensitive so just test it for a bit first. That is typically what you do to old rubber tool handles as the heat makes it expand and soften a bit. I am not sure if Hoover sealed or welded those on but I don't think they would have.
