I have a 2001 Fantom Cyclone XT that has a bad motor. I've heard that it was a Panasonic motor that may still be available. Is this true? I see ones that are similar, but I don't know if they would work. Also, I have a 1995 Fantom that needs a new switch. The Hoover Conquest switch looks to be the same. Any thoughts?

Yes there is a Panasonic motor that fits the XT. I have to locate my info but that is true.

Not sure about the conquest switch. All but the very original 9 amp Fantom you will likely never see will draw more amps. The original 11amp Fantom switch is rated at 10 Amps, this one is the one like the conquest switch. I think eventually things catch up with it and no more switch.

Cosmetically it might fit but I always fabricate a holder for a modern switch when it doesn't work.

It's an 11 Amp with black trim.

I bought it for $25 at my vac shop. It was a trade in. The switch was sticky, and then it stopped working completely. The lights don't work but the motor runs fine. It's at the shop right now. He's waiting for a donor Thunder, but i'd rather just get a new switch. I'll have to ask him since he may have a Conquest switch lying around. If worst comes to worst, I'll just have it re-wired to come on when it's plugged in.

It will work with a different switch, you can find the ones that fit under the rubber dome, then just fabricate a piece of plastic to hold it in place. Even if you get the original switch it will wear out again because it is rated lower than the motor draw, so the cycles and startup current wear them out over a few years. If the conquest switch is the sameness the original and you wish to use it, buy a few, because it's going to be the same problem again down the road.
