Have managed with the help of the Forum and Member's personal sites to match up most accessories to the correct vacuum. Now I find myself in a quandry about a few items...

Here we have 2 similar yet different early Electrolux rug tools where the Gleaner Comb idea is incorporated in the upper long thin slot back edge. The lower wide side has the familiar back edge dogleg stabilizers.

The top bumperless tool pictured was a gift from Doug Smith and so I assume a Canadian item? The highly polished aluminum tool is assembled in halves from front to back and the steel gleaner comb bar is sandwiched between.

The bottom tool I found in a junk shop in rural western Pennsylvania and so I assume is the American version? Assembled from three pieces top to bottom, it has upper & lower wraparound black rubber bumpers sandwiched between and the gleaner comb is internally bolted into the top opening.

Both steel combs are adjustable during assembly and thereby the effective faster airflow of the thin opening can be optimized.

Both tools have the exact same swivel flange and mount, down to the hexhead bolts.

Gleaner Comb Top.

What would be the year of these and which Electrolux models would they have come with?

Felix has a burning curiousity about all things vacuumageable. he curls up comfortably on his towel and watches me fiddle with things at the table and when the vacuum starts up ( the smooth quiet purring ones) he runs around it and jumps over like some trained Dog Act on Ed Sullivan. Likes to creep up behind the exhaust and have his fur blown flat. What a guy! Now if I could find a two legged feller like that I'd be all set.

Hi Dave

The one without the bumpers is from the last models of ZB30 in Canada (1948 or so). The one with the black bumpers is from the American XXX (not sure which years)

Rug Tool #1 also came with American Lux XXX Version #2 - 1939 (in addition to Canadian machines).

Rug Tool #2 is from the American XXX Version #3 - 1947.

The Rug Tool most often seen with the XXX and the early LX first came out as an optional, extra-cost accessory with the 1948 XXX, then became standard equipment in with the 1949 "25th Anniversary" version of the XXX.

Dave, I would say the American carpet nozzle is from a pre war model XXX (1939-1942). As the post war models had the smaller top thread cleaner (as I knew them back in the day)
with the small oval and rubber bumper around them. Like the
carpet nozzles on the 88/89 series, only polished !
