Two "new" Electrolux's for my collection

Just received another shipment of machines from England (Thanks again Al). The two most interesting ones will require quite a bit of work so they will probably be put aside for a winter project.

So without further delay may I present the Electrolux model XI (220V made in England - 1926) and the Electrolux model 9 (110V made in France - 1933)

Another somewhat unusual machine from this shipment was the Norvac model N50A. Made by Electrolux England 1958-1960

Hey Doug. That Norvac canister is pretty interesting. If my memory serves correct, this exact same style of canister was sold under the Electrolux name in England. So do you know anything about the Norvac name? Was this perhaps a re-badge for a department store chain in England, or was the Electrolux name sold D T D & Norvac sold in vac shops? This certainly is the first time I have ever seen an Electrolux sold under a brand name that wasn't their own.

I know very little about the Norvac machines. That is the only model of Norvac that Electrolux England lists on their time line so it may have been a one time thing. They do list Volta machines as well though.

While it was out at the time of the model 62 the Norvac still used the same design as the previous model 55 as well as the same parts as the 55.

Finally got around to the last part of the shipment.

This is an Electrolux model 355. It was one of the few English machines that offered an optional power nozzle.

I think this was one of the few UK models which had a live socket for a power nozzle, but I don't remember Electroux advertising such a thing. There was always a turbo head attachment available as an optional extra, though never that was never all that popular.

With the arrival of the 358 Turbomatic, Electrolux dared to include a turbo head as standard, as indeed they did with the 380 and 390 which followed. Then it stopped. It would be years and years later before Electrolux included a turbo head with any cleaner as standard. In fact, I can't think when it might have been, as I can recall no other. If there was one, it would have been well into the late 1990's.

Have you ever come across the power nozzle for the 355? I'd love to see what it was like. I am assuming it was the German made one.

That was my point. I don't think the UK ever had such a thing.

Wish I could find a manual for the 355 and see what it says in there about the power nozzle.

Power Nozzle

Hi, maybe I can help you with the power nozzle question. Last week I got a lot of old Electrolux and volta Service Manuals from Electrolux Finland. A funny thing, someone there remember me collecting old vacuums and they called me and asked if I want them (they are moving their Service department to Helsinki).

I also own a Elektrohelios U358, it looks exactly the same than yours Z358 and here you can see also the power nozzle but service manual says that model ZE4 was sold in England without light and with Electrolux brand.

And here is the Volta version from 1979 without light. Electrolux also made this with Dometic brand model UE4 for Canadian markets, 115V.

I have never seen anything like this power head, though clearly it was available to the UK from what is written above. I am wondering if it was supplied here as an addition to the Panther commercial cylinder cleaner, as these had a socket for such a device. Mention of it for none UK countries is made here:
