Found this at the carboot today! We were with friends, and my girlfriend clocked that I had seen it (we were about 4 stalls away), turned to our companions and said 'Watch this'

30 seconds later, once I'd checked it had all it's wheels, and lower cord hook it was mine!

And with my U1220, the only other soft bagged junior I have out at the moment. Got 4 now:

U1220
U1222
U1294
This (U1436)

Plus 2 hard-bagged ones! (U2694 and a Boost, no idea of the serial for that though!)

Must get them all together one day for a photoshoot!

Nice find there! These were absolutely common as MUCK when I was younger, especially with elderly people. You don't see many of this style anymore. Shame as the colour scheme is great.

The soft bags are becoming rare I think. Most good ones are in us lots hands now hopefully, what are not are at boot sales and eBay and the rest I reckon are long scrapped sadly

Its a shame because I think the soft bagged machines work better than the hard bag versions. A lot easier to manoeuvre and don't creak in use.

I've never seen another tp in aubergine, was it a common colour?

Just bought its companion

Just won a U1426 with boxed tools too, so I finally have a matched pair!

There was a boxed toolset unwon yesterday, but the price was too steep to justify. Hopefully it will be re-listed!

Whatever you do, don't store the soft bag models in a cold place - i did that once and the handle snapped off one day when powering up my U1426 Junior. Lesson learnt there! Loved the red/pink fleck design on the bag though. Also used to have the U1100 Turbopower one at one point too.

You've got me worried now Sebo! They sit in the loft dismantled wrapped up in bubblewrap. Loft is a bit insulated, but I imagine it gets cold up there.

Will ask my parents if I can use their recently cleaned out loft, it's never cold up there! Got to get some boxed away, running out of space at the flat now, have about 10 machines sitting around. Need to sell a few/give one away too!

Jake - seriously tempted to just wipe down any visible dirt, lightly polish the plastic up and leave the 1436 as it is. Can't wash the bag anyway as the spring holder is built in, plus it doesn't need it! Will see what condition the 1426 is in when the seller actually responds to my question about payment!

It looks great anyway, a good spot! Some carboot finds can be quite the opposite looking which I'm sure you know!
Don't be too worried about storing them in the loft they should be fine. I personally have the hoses some other place as the cold can split them, my friend has had many of his vax 121 type cylinders hoses split beyond repair.
Good luck with the 1426, the listing pictures where nice and you got it at a steal price. I was tempted but have loads of vacuums awaiting restoration.

U1426 collected!

Currently sat in my boot. Noticed it has it's original bill of sale too for £80 odd quid, will look properly tonight.

2 of a kind is completed! It's not in quite as good condition though. Will start a thread tonight when I have a proper look.
