I'd like to have some understanding about the history of the turbine brush, yet I have not been able to find much information. I know Electrolux had an air powered brush in the 60s, but after that all I can find is HP-Products, which would be the Turbocat and Rugrat from the 80s. Does anyone else have more information?

Preco!

Power Brush was bragged on heavily by consumer reports in 1959, they were made for many years after that.

air turbine

As above Preco is the place to start.Vac stores sold them to fit many models as customers became aware of Sears & Elux electric nozzles. Some were private labeled for Westinghouse,Singer,Fairfax and others. Also used for many central vacs before turbocat/rugrat.The Elux air turbine started as a small floor polisher att, then added shampoo tank and brush, then larger version as Rug Washer shampooer/polisher and finally shampooer only.
