TTI Vacuums

You're welcome Chris!

You know, I don't think that cheap necessarily equals bad. The Eureka 1425 Dial-A-Nap upright my parents bought me in 1982 cost only $100 in Florida (including attachments) and is still running fairly well in the lucky hands of my friend CountryGuy Gary. The only serious replacement I did over the years was replace the outer bag because a roommate somehow sucked up part of a coat-hanger and it was lodged in the bag "throat"!!!!

I paid over $500 in 2002 for a top-rated Kenmore Elegance (Progressive in the USA) canister model 27210, and 3 years later the motor blew on me. I was religious in changing bags and filtres and watching for the little red "check bag" light, and the darn thing died on me during a "strenuous session" of dusting bookeshelves with a dusting brush.

Go figure....:-)

@ chris

lol
ya I can see that. people who dont know how to treat their investments cannot expect them to last long. I dont know how many machines I have rescued from the Dump that had CLOGGED hoses or filters, or my favorite the usual broken belt. :P

Yep. Cant tell you how many times ive got a vacuum and all that was wrong was the bag was extremely full or the belt was broke, and it worked fine. :S A quote from some other person in some other topic: 'God, sometimes i think people need a permit to operate a vacuum sometimes." :P

forgot to add this to the last post

Pre-TTI hoovers used to be made with such quality- Theres still coffee cans and 150s and 28s still being used as daily drivers every day! They were built to last. TTi-made plastivac hoovers, however, are made for, whats the term, "planned obsolescence".. Like the scene from one of my favorite childhood movies, "The brave little toaster goes to mars". The X-mas tree angel was telling about the "wonderluxe" appliances that were built for planned obsolescence.... No offense to anyone here who works for TTI.

Some cheap vacuums can last alot abuse. My aunt has had a Eureka Smartvac from 2004, and she really abuses it. Still runs like new.

I'm sure when the Windtunnel or Elite has introduced many people thought they were extremely cheap. I have seen elites go though alot. So you never know, maybe my $40 Bissell will outlive the warranty. :)

Try and get the Oreck place where you work part-time to allo

I've worked the sales floor since day one, and consider myself a top-seller. When customers come in and ask for a bagless machine, if I can't sway them to a bagged fairly quickly, I let them walk, not everyone sees the value in being an Oreck owner, and owning the only cleaner with a free yearly tune-up agreement. Sometimes I'll ask them point blank "how much money do you have to spend?" If they're not willing to spend at least $300.00, you gotta let them walk. Bagless (with the exception of Dyson) is code word for cheap. You obviously think the TTI takeover was a good thing, I'm sure Fred Stachnik would disagree with you there. I know I do. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree....

Karl...three questions:

1) Why would only Fred disagree....I'm sure others do as well?

2) Why are you only part-time if you are a "top seller" or is that a name you have designated for yourself?

3) At what point did I say the TTI takeover was a good thing?

due to the vacs on display
at big boxers, 90+ percent
are bagless, leads the average
person to think this is a
good thing, and they are the
low end, eg cheap so they
think that's what the average
vac sells for
im sure hoover sells more low end
cleaners than high end, and we
all know there is a reason for
the cheap price, cheap construction

In regards to Royal

Hi Christopher,

My Royal 880 from 1978-79 also has a lifetime warranty on the fan casing, nozzle, and housing, according to the warranty documentation I received with the machine. Royal has always been good about that.

You know what Christopher?

I'm DONE with YOU! I find your comments to be unnecessarily abrasive where that should not be the case. They rub me and others on this forum the wrong way. It's none of your business why I am there only part time! We're talking about vacuum cleaners here, not people's lifestyles. Everyone has their favorite brands as well as ones they don't care for as much. You're bitter because you CAN'T SELL Orecks in your mom & pop vac shop. I've got shoes older than you, and I don't appreciate your criticism. Let't get back to the issue at hand here which is solely vacuum cleaners. Okay, I'll get down off my soapbox now....

Ouch???!!

Actually...we are 2 years apart in age. Speaking of shoes, I'm going to put myself in your shoes when I respond to you now and I'll try not to bring anymore of your 32 year old bitterness out...

No, I can actually order and sell Orecks...but I choose not to carry them because as you said we are a local small business and do not want people complaining about stuff that we sell.

I know you said you are done with me, but I bet you will reply to this :-). Sorry if I hurt your feelings.
